It's the same six weeks thing Israel has been demanding. US says it does not support invasion of Rafah but it knows this deal won't go through and it knows Israel will destroy Rafah with the weapons the US gave Israel. Blinken is effectively just trying to manufacture justification for Israel's next war crimes. "If Hamas had given Israel what they wanted then Israel wouldn't have massacred all these more civilians, oh well"

Hamas wants to keep fighting because they think they can get better deals (them staying in power), and Israel wants to keep fighting because they think they can get a better deal(Hamas not being in power).

Literally never going to happen. Netanyahu has been looking for any excuse to start this genocide for years, and he's not giving it up now that he has one.

And Hamas genuinely have nothing to lose. Sure, they'd like to stay in power and keep trying to attack Israel, but they genuinely believe there's no greater glory than dying a martyr for the cause; and they'll happily sacrifice every man, woman, and child it has to, and thinks they should feel honored for the opportunity.

This conflict has no rational geopolitical conclusion. Both sides want the other completely eradicated, and neither of them care if Gaza is depopulated to the last man in order to do it. There's nothing to negotiate. The losers are the people of Gaza, stuck between two factions that both don't give a shit if they're wiped out.

Hamas started this and continues to be responsible for the whole situation. Its their responsibility to accept a deal, they cant win against Israel. And if they refuse what happens next is all on them.

No, Israel has agency in this as well. Both Israel and Hamas reject the others deals.

The "oh baby why did you make me hit you" defense is alarmingly common.

The elites on both sides are the ones pushing all this. The people could find a way to get along and coexist in the long term if given the opportunity. But the elites and far right in Israel want their ethnostate and the total destruction of the Palestinian people. And the elites/far right in Palestine want to target civilians and foreclose the possibility of peace that doesn't result in genocide.

They BOTH must be taken out, but the West is propping up one side and seems to accept a slow motion eradication of the other.

They both feel that any "peace" is just a trick to get them to slowly submit to their destruction. While that's understandable for the people of Israel to feel, it's even more understandable and actually true for the people of Palestine because it's currently happening and it's been openly stated as the plan.
