i don't get this. i don't get it anymore than i get people getting mad at fighting games like Soul Calibur where you can still hit your opponent after they are already beaten. or any more than i get that weird news story a few months ago about someone claiming to have gotten "virtually raped" in the Metaverse. all that's happening is a character model is moving on a screen. the movements aren't even sexual or explicit. and they amount to literally nothing. there is nothing that happens to your player character any differently if they get teabagged versus if they didn't. it just seems like a really trivial thing to be so upset about.

Some people can have bad reactions when exposed to things that remind them of their trauma. Granted this is the first time I've seen someone that gets bad flashbacks of past abuse over this particular thing, but a thing to keep in mind is that while you might not be able to understand the reasons why, try to have some empathy, because your experience is going to be entirely different from someone else's .

Having said that, as someone who is guilty of teabagging people in games, I'll give my take.

I don't do with the intent of it being sexual. Disrespectful sure, but typically to a player that has been obnoxious to me first in some way. I can't speak for others, but I do not do so with the intent to simulate assault or necrophilia. All I see is a bunch of pixels shooting at each other in a (normally) 3D space. As an aside, I often get my own comeuppance, as while I'm making myself look like a petty fool, I often get killed in the process.

So I do it out of pettiness, I at least don't do it to simulate anything, and I certainly don't do it to trigger or remind people of their past traumas.

I've also more recently been doing less of the Teabagging and more shooting their dead body as a way of being disrespectful.

I'll also add this OP. If we ever played a game together, not that it's likely, but I would absolutely not teabag anyone during it. Not you nor anyone else in the lobby. And if you or anyone else told me "hey, can you stop that, I've had bad experiences and it reminds me of them" , I'd stop immediately, give you a free kill on me if we were enemies, and not do it again with you present. I'd still probably shoot bodies of annoying players, but that's it. Fuck only knows how many times I saw someone with a legit offensive name and I went out of my way to kill the player and mag dump into their body.

I was molested, I dont get offended or triggered when ppl tea beg me. Infact I find it funny sometimes, further more I think limiting functions in games cause of the actions of few is pretty lame

Lots of people have arachnaphobia and yet games still are full of tons of giant spiders.

However some games have option to turn spiders off I think or some game did.

Maybe they can make anti-teabag mode on client side so you just don't see them teabagging.

Lethal Company's arachnophobia mode replaces the bunker spiders with the word spider. Grounded's slowly morphs the spiders into textureless spheres.

Would not change game mechanics just for this. Just make it a reportable offense that gets them a suspension and eventually a ban and call it a day.

Though tip toeing for stealth makes more sense for stealth so for that reason I'd be fine with it. Crouching should just be for two things. Taking cover behind a barrier or more steady aim when shooting.

I could probably count on one hand how many times I've done it. And I was actively gaming online when it was all the craze.

Now in street fighter 3 online I made active use of taunting excessively. Was actually a legit strategy. Didn't work on everyone but you'd get people that would start tripping over their own feet in anger trying to punish you for it. Plus thr taunts gave temporary stat boosts.

Sometimes i would aim to end an opponent with a taunt. It was couch multiplayer one time I did it. Dude lost his shit lol. I wad playing Ken and he saw me taunt and technically I fucked up cause I was at a range he coukda easily punished me for it but he was already so mad and desperate to do so from previous taunts he dashed face first into it. For those that don't know a lot of taunts in sf 3 would cause chip damage level of damage if a certain part of it made contact with the opponent.

Well some I can't say a lot for sure. I know Ken's yuns dudleys and Sean's did.

1) You can't just replace crouching with toptoeing in most games. In how many pvp games are people crouching to lower the sound their movement does?

2) I have honestly never heard of people getting banned for teabagging. I also think it's childish, annoying and disrespectful, but I don't think it's something that people should get a ban for.

Yeah, it happened. Probably the dream that stands out the most to me. Before then I was a rude agnostic who disregarded anything paranormal. The only reason I even liked succubi was the fact they were demons who took a female guise. That much I wanted to emulate.

I'm sorry to hear that. I don't know how one goes about after enduring something like that. I was an emotional wreck after my former stepfather tried to get me in the shower with him and I was afraid for a long time to be alone with him.

Maybe my trauma is still there because my family denies he was going to do it. They make the excuse saying that "he wasn't gay" or "he really wanted to teach you how to clean yourself". It also didn't help he gave me "the talk" while he was on the toilet and would often spank me for no reason other than he wanted to.

*sigh* I really don't know how to move on with this.

no, this is just ridiculous. why make it a bannable offense? that's not any better of a solution than changing the mechanic. it's trivial. it's not something that anyone deserves to be banned over.

i think if anything needs to be done, this would be it. because ultimately, if you find teabagging triggering, that's a you problem, not an anybody else's problem.

Did it ever matter? It's a video game. If you're getting angry over shit happening in a video game walk away. It's entertainment. Yeah, a frustrating struggle can be fun when you finally jump over it, but if something another player is doing is pissing you off just take a break.

Never really understood getting upset about shit like that online.

Some games actively discourage rude or disrespectful behavior, and in those I report it because its reportable. Thats more up to the developer than anyone else, though. For all of the many faults of OW2, its one of the games that seems to put the most effort into moderating toxic behavior (whether its noticeable or not).

I think everyone in life has a responsibility to take care of their personal issues. If seeing someone teabag your character triggers you, get some help. Seriously. I don't even mean this in a bad way. Get help, and distance yourself from what triggers you.

I donr care either way cause I'm not so overly sensitive. But it's I'd rather see that than them go out out of their way and make ganeplay changes.

If its not teabagging, its some other form of taunting. Feels really arbitrary to ban or work around it.

Martyrdom. I actually pulled that off in PUBG the other day when a team of four tried to gank me. Guess they didnt expect someone to pull a grenade when they knew they were going down.

You just reminded me of Gears 2 or 3! I was at a friend's place and we were playing co-op online. He gets downed and the entire enemy team was doing the equivalent of teabagging him. They fail to notice him raising his frag grenade raising and suddenly we were down one, they were down 3. I was beyond jealous, that isn't the first time dude had a crazy/cool kill...
