Oh fuck I forgot to say Sonic, it baffles me how much these are loved when it strays pretty far from the games and filled with all these boring ass humans (sans. Robotnik)

I can't speak for everyone, but as someone who grew up a Nintendo fanboy and didn't really like Sonic all that much, I think the fact that is wasn't 'traditional' Sonic probably played into its success. I'm a huge fan of Ducktales 2017, and it was a big plus for me that Ben Schwartz played Sonic pretty much identically to how he played Dewey Duck (a likeable, eager, yet insecure kid who's constantly in over his head, as opposed to the too-cool-for-school attitude machine I'd always assumed Sonic was). But honestly it was mostly Jim Carrey hamming it up as Robotnik that sold it.

Plus pretty much everyone criticized the boring-ass human subplot in the 2nd movie.

That's probably why it ain't for me, their not exactly bad films but being a generic "fish out of water" family flick just limits the potential for a story like this

& Ducktales 2017 is super goated, how does he dewey it?

I'd like to add Iron Spider Boy to mine.
Honestly most of the MCU at this point. I tried rewatching the older ones and I realized they were entertaining to me at the time because it was new and hasn't been done like this before. Now they kind of make me cringe and I don't look forward to superhero movies anymore after being a life long comic book fan.

No Country for Old Men is one of the most boring films I've ever seen.

Iron Man 1 was just ok. I didn't hate it or anything but several other films in the universe were much better. Even its own direct sequel was a more enjoyable film IMO.

Ill start. Mad Max: Fury Road
It was ok. I don't get why everyone loved it but it wasn't particularly disagreeable or anything.

Baron_Ox posted...
Goodfellas
It was remarkably well made. The director did a great job; the actors did great jobs... I just couldn't figure out what the point of the story was. Like, who took this guy's biography and said "yeah, this is compelling and should be a movie."

masterpug53 posted...
People who think RotS is a genuinely good movie deserve nothing less than to live in the post-satire hellscape that they themselves helped create. Shame that the rest of us are stuck living here with them, though.
*shrugs* It was certainly better than 1 or 2.

The Count of Monte Cristo (Jim Caviezel version).

as a fan of the book, I can't see how it's so liked, and it makes me feel like I'm the crazy one.
I haven't seen it, but as also a fan of the book, I can see absolutely no way whatsoever than you could ever cram that story into a single-sitting flick. Lord of the Rings got three, and people still whine that they left stuff out. And Monte Cristo is almost exactly as long, and needs every word.

The J.J Abrams Star Trek movies.

I do not even acknowledge their existence.
Those kinda got worse as they went. I loved 2009. Then Into Darkness was kinda like... uh... And then Beyond was just moronic.

People don't necessarily say it's good, but rather that it's the least bad of the prequel trilogy. It at least passes as a serviceable movie.

While I don't agree with RotS being the 'least bad' of the prequels, it's at least an opinion I can respect. But no, there's a disturbing number of people out there now who believe it to be a genuinely good movie; presumably people who grew up with it and / or spent years absorbing the memes and erroneously believed themselves to be immune from diminishing irony.

avatar. i'm just not into cgi like that so the movies offer nothing to me. and you got people that (used to?) get all sad because they can't live in pandora. i just don't get it.

nolan. now i don't hate nolan, but i'm not high on him like most others. for some reason i feel like i'm watching concepts instead of stories with nolan. interstellar did work on me, though. i like that one.

revenge of the sith. i'd rather watch the phantom menace to be honest. is child anakin awesome? no, but i didn't have to care as much yet because he wasn't the main one doing the on screen star wars shit outside of podracing. it's got the best duel of the trilogy by far. they had some fancy shmancy shit this fight but it was egregious in 2 and 3. the gungans and their accent is my one major complaint - that's specific to phantom menace and not spread across all three movies. i'm comparing, after all.

Definitely not dislike, but I wasn't as in love with Godzilla Minus One the way everyone else was. It was a wonderful movie and I'm glad it's popular, but I found the ending way too corny and it detracted from me caring about the characters a little. Rogue One.

I dont even dislike it, but Ill never understand the boner that people get for it. Its not that good, unless all you are about are cool action scenes (and I do love a good action scene, but when 95% of your characters are so bland that I dont give a shit about them, it makes the action less compelling).

It hits every check on the list of nerds who think theyre cinephiles use to dislike movies, but for whatever reason, this one gets a pass.

My only major complaint with R1 was that one Vader scene. You know, the one where he talks.

It was so bad. He doesn't say anything other characters don't also point out, and he doesn't do anything except copy his own body language from the OT. And then they put the cherry on top by reminding us of angsty punmaster teenage episode 2 Anakin.

I honestly think that scene was the last scene they filmed, after they had a complete and perfectly fine film, because some doofus at Disney decided giving Vader dialog was worth a couple of million on the bottom line.
