I can kinda see why. Now, maybe I'm ignorant in the subject, and feel free to correct me if I'm wrong, but women's wards aren't about keeping women away from men for safety, it's because the doctors/nurses that work on those wards are specialists in the anatomy of a biological woman.

You start dropping biological dudes in there, then you need more doctors for a specificity that is no longer specific.

Like, don't put heart problem patients on the cancer ward.

This is just common sense so many people can't grasp these days. The woman's ward of the hospital is for biological women. The men's ward is for biological males. Simple.

Sadly Rowling and co have convinced a considerable amount of people that trans people are just men dressing up as women for the primary purpose of raping people. It's a fucking wild timeline we live in.

Even taking aside the sheer transphobia of it, the hilarity of worrying about your sexual dignity in hospital seems so removed from what hospitals are actually like. You're butt naked a lot of the time, nurses of any gender are examing and wiping your bits, you're soiling yourself, you're pissing your pants, you're struggling to so much as walk without someone helping you...

but yes let's focus on the big issues, facepalm.

Corbyn got hammered by Johnson in the last election, so the Labour Party did what it does and chose a dull moderate who won't spook the centrists.

I won't shed too many tears for Corbyn after his failure to provide effective opposition to Brexit. By this point, I want the Tories out by any means necessary.

When was the last time any of you (including Starmer and Sunak) were AT an NHS hospital?

They are so underpaid, understaffed and under supplied that the CORRIDIRS are full of patients In beds.

Staff are quiting on mass due to low pay, stress and being offered x2 to x4 times the same pay for the same job with better equipment in Germany, Australia, Canada etc.

There's hardly any experienced staff left in the NHS , a lot of the new hires struggle to speak English

And ambulance times are 5+ hours while old people lie waiting in puddles of their own piss and blood after a heart attack

Speaking to your GP is borderline impossible and the wait times for basic life saving tests or surgeries can be months or years

And this is all 100% due to 20 years of the horrible nonsensical right wing policies of the Tories . Which has crippled the NHS, boats, trains, post service, roads, immigration, education

Just to make a handful of billionaires extra money

And instead of talking about any of that we're arguing about transgenders in women's wards when women are piled in in the corridor outside of the ward because the NHS has been intentionally torn apart for 20 years.

Yeah, a lot of people don't realize that after a sustained period of HRT, the body behaves a lot like a cis woman's (or the case of T, a cis man's). Which itself isn't really saying much, since there's such an insanely broad amount of variations even within a single sex's biology.

But yeah, the terms "biological male and female" aren't really standardized in any way, especially not the way people online tend to use them

As mentioned, "biological woman" means. nothing as people use it when HRT literally changes your biology. Taking estrogen and suppressing testosterone literally changes you to be just like cis women.

I suppose I should have elaborated on the link so my bad. My point was that there's a difference between what your average Joe's experience is and what is reported in the media. Dislike the report all you want, both the Conservatives and Labour say they're going to act on it's recommendations.

As much criticism I have of Democrats, at least they aren't Labour under Starmer

More than a few people seem to think it's legitimate or want to treat it as something worth consideration. This is why they dress up their transphobia as some kind of report in the first place.

It's not a legitimate piece of work. Doesn't matter if you like or dislike it, that's not how science works. It's already been deconstructed as it's numerous flaws and transphobic bias, and the author has even had to walk parts of it back.

It's standard procedure in UK politics to give this kind of issue to an 'independent' inquiry. It gets it off the table for a long time, and then everyone can say, 'Hey, I'm not being transphobic. We had a proper report done by experts. We're just doing what they said. Do you really want us to ignore our own experts?'.
