Pontius got them to admit that Jesus had committed no actual crime, and that they were willing to pardon a murderer just because they hated Jesus that much (so much that they happily speak a curse their own children and great grand children for having Jesus's blood on their hands) Pontius acquieses to this angry mob and gives them what they want. In short, an anti-Jesus faction of Jews take Jesus to Roman court. The Roman judge, fearing mob violence, gives them what they want. Jesus's execution is carried out by Rome. Said hostile Jews spit on him as he carries the cross down the road, while sympathetic Jews weep and try to help him. Oh, yeah, the Roman prison guards beat Jesus, stripped him of his clothing, and gambled for it amongst each other. Yeah, you have an entire sub-demographic of these people blaming every natural and manmade disaster that befalls the United States on government support for the 2 state solution (even the Abraham Accords, since it gives the Palestinians a sliver of land that "God gave to Israel") Oh, and Great Britain lost her empire because it dared to partition Israel according to these guys.
