The fact you need an account for an auxiliary and non-ancillary service that in no way directly improves or impacts the game experience and exists solely for data harvesting so they can sell your info is far from a non-issue for those who can easily make an account.

There's no reason to mandate the account.

It's a legitimate concern and the other reasons are more than legit on their own to not need a privacy concern added on top.

You can be mad at Sony for needlessly mandating an account and at the fact they're completely cucking a good chunk of their player base. And if they grant exceptions to the mandatory account association, it just proves it isn't necessary.

I think totalnerdken is just trying to be a bit too technical. Like yeah, it probably won't impact the greater number of players that already have a PSN account or can make one easily. But for the people it will impact it sucks and is really unnecessary and he realizes that too.
Given that totalnerdken has criticized the porn restriction and tiktok banning bills and I'm assuming he isn't personally affected by them I'm sure he understands how one can criticize policies without being personally affected by them.

Makes sense because people in those countries can't play the game unless they use fake credentials.

Amazing how incompetent Sony was with the whole thing. They should have required a PS Account at the start, made PS accounts available worldwide, or never even required it at all.

They suspended the requirement because the requirement was causing issue with people being able to log in. They couldn't handle the demand at launch from my understanding.

A tech company. A major tech company. In the 2020s. Could not handle a surge of sign ups for their service. It's pathetic.

launch numbers are always inflated, no dev/publisher is going to pay an entire year's lease for enough servers to cover the launch rush when they know that traffic will be gone in a month.

that's why blizzard's major game launches still have login queues, and always will

I corrected your claim that 90% of the playerbase is unaffected. I never needed you to tell me it's a non-issue to me. I choose to talk about it.

I wonder if steam will be forced to give refunds to everyone who can't access the game anymore.

I assume if they do they'll be trying to get at least some money back from the publishers themselves

Countries de-listed don't have the option to refund, it'll most likely be automatic.

most of blizzard's server issues are because of everyone hitting the login server at once, basically creating an accidental DDOS

the people already in game are fine most of the time, until the world servers themselves go down.

Always funny to see a game take itself out of major award consideration.

Welp I'll wait for the official announcement, but looks like Sony is doubling down at the cost of being de-listed in most countries, so I'll be seeking refund soon enough.

The region lock is a Steam decision. I imagine they're trying to avoid further legal issues by keeping the game from selling any more copies in areas where it will cause trouble in the future.

Should have just offered some in game currency for whoever signed up for PSN. Probably would have gotten a shit ton of sign ups lol

Pretty sure they did, and had some bonuses back when Spider Man and Miles Morales came out for people who did that. It didn't take obviously, so they're pulling this stunt to inflate their numbers for investors or some shit.

They're absolutely nuts to take the game off sale in regions without PSN, they should at the very least make those regions not require an account.

Surely theyll walk this back, theyve done it in the past and this is easily one of their most successful titles of all time. If not, its another example of big business suits being cancerous to gaming.

Literally the only reason why it's the 7th highest grossing game in Sony history is because of the PC community, it wouldn't even crack the top 20 if it were PS5 exclusive.
