Question: When did the beginning of the 20th century begin
Correct Answer: Jan 1, 1901...

Nope.

If the beginning of the calendar started at Year 0 AD then...

0=1st Year
1=2nd Year
2=3rd Year
1900=1899th Year.

etc...etc...

In this case it would mean the 20th century began on January 1st, 1899. The obverse is that Year 1 is at 0, Year 2 is at 1, Year 3 is at 2, so it would be 1 behind.

This is essentially a mirror. Look at the above. See that 1=2nd Year would look like that 1901 is the right answer, when if you reverse the numbers, you can see it is 1 year behind, not ahead. (2nd Year=1 AD)

If Year 1 was the first...

1-1st Year
2-2nd Year
3-3rd Year
...
1900th Year=1900

It didn't.

As for the rest, that's not how math works.

Immediately wrong.

January 1st, 1 AD was the first day of the common era, December 31st 1 BC was the last day of the previous era. There was no year zero.

I bookmarked it. Right now, I thought that the course of a day was 365.26 years long. So it is 365.24~

I see.. It jumped forward a year then, much like DST. Except...well you don't fall back.

Edit: It went from -1 BC to +1 AD

Yeah. DST is +/-1 and in this case it is 2.

I have never read so much crap in my life. I see someone needs some maths lessons.

I have got news for you THERE WAS NO YEAR ZERO! You can't have a year zero! 1 Before Common Era was followed by 1 Common Era!

Oh and if I am not mistaken isn't 1+100=101 and 1+1000=1001!

So with that the 20th Century started in 1901 and the 21st Century started in 2001 which is also the year the third millennium Common Era started.

Wasn't April 1st the beginning of the new year up until the 1600s or something that was quite a long time ago?

April Fools was a way to recognize that some people had not been informed yet.

(I'm not making his up, but I acknowledge that the source may not necessarily be accurate)
