A Texas man has asked a court for permission to launch an investigation into his ex-partners alleged out-of-state abortion, which could lead to one of the first lawsuits against people who help Texans leave the state to obtain the procedure.

Davis has said in legal filings that he plans to pursue wrongful-death claims against anyone involved in the killing of his unborn child, the Post reported. Mitchell could not immediately be reached for comment.

Texas laws exempt the woman who received the abortion from punishment, but under Mitchells six-week abortion ban, private citizens can sue anyone who aids or abets an abortion in civil court for damages of at least $10,000.

This is the second high-profile case brought by Mitchell to test the applicability of that law as it relates to aborted fetuses. The first was filed by a Galveston man, Marcus Silva, who is seeking to punish three friends of his ex-wife for allegedly helping her obtain abortion pills, and could go to trial this fall.

So much for states rights.

PS - The lawyer representing the ex-husband helped craft the bill that allows people in Texas to sue over out-of-state abortions. He wrote a law that he's now profiting from.

Texas being Texas, I shit you not, most of the people in this state do think the rest of the world should be like us and buying the bull shit politicians sell us, I can't tell you how many times I've heard people insulting California, Mexico, Canada and especially Biden even in places like Dallas here because all our political ads insult those places, Even worse when people think Abbot is a decent man and very empathic to people.

The weirdest fucking thing to me is how everybody, I mean fucking everybody hates Ted Cruz as a person the only reason he still has his power is because his opposition was a baby killing gun grabber. Another weird thing is that some conservative people absolutely loathe Donald Trump yet they plan on voting Republican down the ticket and leaving the presidential box blank, It makes no sense how can you hate Trump yet not hate the people who enable him every step of the way? And then there's people who'll vote for him for absolutely stupid reasons like an uber driver I had voting for him because he thinks women have it too easy in modern society and Trump will finally give some fairness back once he's in power again, I didn't press him on the details of that because I just wanted to get home but holy fuck are people frustrating when it comes to politics

Seems like a valid argument against these nonsense lawsuits.

Prove they didn't go on vacation.

If they drive to New Mexico for abortion access, just save a receipt from Dairy Queen or some shit.

Watch these red states make it to where you don't have to have a proper medical degree or license to practice and there will be so many bootleg doctors doing half assed doctoring. So much medical malpractice in the future, at least if Texas doesn't ban suing doctors for that.

It's the economy for sure. Many of my NY friends moved here because of the money potential and price of living. A lot of tech jobs here as well.
