So ive played all the main series games. Beat all if them except for 1 (it was a rental back when it was new, and i never finished it, 100%d 2, finished 3.

4 didnt impress me at first. I thought the dog was a gimmick, and the fact that there were more characters lost the isolated feel of the first 3. Well, I was wrong. Saving people is really fun, and they all either give you more options, or sidequests to earn points for useful upgrades. The dog is so good. Not only does he act as a second character, but he is also a really complex Pikmin in and of itself. Using him to gather pikmin together is nice, but you also lose the ability to attack at once in that form. Yeah, he can gather objects quicker, but you also lose an ally if you run into trouble, while hes working. Nice risk reward. Plus, hes really cute. Id love if they added animals with other abilities in a sequel, like a cat who can climb, and things like that.

Its a bit easier, but it picks up after a fakeout ending. There is still a ton to do, a new game mode similar to Pikmin 1, and harder Dandori stuff. I thought i was done with the game, and felt satisfied, but i was so happy to see that there was more.

This game actually revitalized my love for the series, and made me want to go and buy the rereleases so i can have them all on one console.

And hoe stly, i think Pikmin is the one series that Nintendo really always nails. Every game is so fleshed out and well- polished, so fully realized, and filled with so much passion. Every game adds on the last, refines things, and somehow adds surprising twists.

Its good but its my least favorite of the series for sure.

Its biggest offense is the lack of music. The first three games have so many great funky earworms, but there wasnt much in 4. I guess they took a cue from Breath of the Wild

The other annoyance for me is the constant interruptions by other crew members, especially at the beginning lol. Made me really appreciate the isolation of the first game.
