In terms of quality, i guess? Drake is the bigger artist numbers wise and his best songs are still legitimately good songs, so i dont think its a great analogy

I do think Kendrick is absolutely better as a rapper tho

Kendrick is a fair bit smaller than Drake but I would imagine he'd still beat the piss out of Drake who has probably never had an actual fight in his life.

But yeah Drake is popular, but his albums have been trashed critically since like before Kendrick put out TPaB.

TPaB is considered one of the greatest albums of the 21st century and DAMN. and Mr. Morale have also been widely acclaimed.

It's such an uneven beef from a purely musical standpoint.

Yeah Drakes last album that I consider good back to front is probably If youre reading this its too late, which was 2015. Every album hes made after More Life I just straight up dislike.

I do think its silly that people pretend Drake has never made good music though. Drakes songs, even at his his best, arent often the deepest, but theres some real quality there and you can play it and enjoy it with friends.

Kendricks music is obviously much deeper and introspective of a lot of the time, but im also not necessarily gonna be bumping a lot of TPAB or Mr Morale songs in the car with my friends to have fun with it.

I think theres a place for both of them in hiphop.

I would say Drake should quit while he's ahead, but for Drake, that would have meant quitting like ten years ago.

Drake should just stop with the diss tracks, he's digging his own grave. Kendrick's worst diss track is like ten times better than Drake's best.

My main issue with Drake is he always felt inauthentic to me. I don't mind him making dance and club hits and shit, but I don't need him to be rapping about his "goons" or whatever. I give Cole a lot of respect because even though he's street-adjacent, he never tries to present the image that he's a gangster

His subject matter also seems extremely limited and I feel like he's been rapping about the same shit since he started. At some point, it just gets repetitive.

Drake is absolutely capable of making destructive diss tracks as seen when he ended Meek Mill with Back to Back

Kendrick just clearly had a LOT of material loaded and ready to launch which Drake clearly wasnt ready for. Dude basically walked into a trap and I dont think hes digging himself out of this hole

Thats fair. I dont really like his fake gangster songs much either usually. My favorite drake songs are usually when hes just being himself, which is a goofy and often overly emotional and sensitive dude lmao

Shit like Marvins room and most of take care in general. Hell even stuff like hotline bling which shows him as the opposite of a gangster street dude.
