Obviously animated wallpapers still exist if you want to seek them out, but are now mostly relegated to ad-ridden, low quality options on the Play Store. Why did manufacturers stop using them by default? Remember all the cool edgy Droid ones? Even if that's not your thing, Google Pixels had some gorgeous, subtly animated landscapes that they mostly stopped using.

This was an animated eye on my Droid X in 2010 and it was really cool at the time (another thing I miss but understand as a business decision why it didn't last: edgy robotic Android aesthetic).

Droid X was my first smartphone. I loved that thing but it didnt take long to turn into a piece of shit and run very poorly. I sold it to a coworker and it died shortly thereafter. I felt a little bad.

Same. Droids felt so futuristic back then. I still have mine but it's definitely not usable in terms of speed now.

would like to have a video play imo but i prefer my wallpaper i put on phone since my dog passed away (a form of tribute for what she offered me for the past 13 years).

wish the company would get back to me so i can have her ashes (going to make a memorial for her with the urn and a picture).

I recall animated wallpapers draining my battery, but maybe things have improved.
