Do you think theres any remote possibility of that being a joke?

Given some honestly throw around that term for anything bad in the world, it's not easy telling what's a joke and what's not.

toxic masculinity is the hill test in which if a girl can't imagine you carrying her up a hill she won't date you.

idk about that hill test.

so what, if someone wants a super strong partner like wtf do i care? everyone has a type.

i think it's fine not to date you, but it would be toxic masculinity if she made fun of your or something for not being strong enough.

Literally the exact same reply. Why are only men toxic? Why do only black lives matter?
They are not the same replies. You are looping in a completely different discussion/issue to make the case that one should by default support both, or not support both terms.

They are 2 completely different topics. It's not the same thing.

Different topics, same dense response. Toxic masculinity does not mean men are toxic in general. Its not even a statement about men but about a particular view of masculinity.

Which doesn't apply to both. What applies to one does not apply to any and every discussion you can phrase a sentence with, "why only." Agreeing with one doesn't mean one should by default agree with with any other issue you can bring up and phrase the sentence similarly. Same vice versa to disagreeing.

Stick to the issue cjs brought up. Address the issue itself that was brought up originally by cjs, which was some who attach "toxic" to "masculinity" to label almost anything negative both men and women do that's bad. No matter the topic or issue, the goto is, masculinity being toxic. The issue of attaching toxic exclusively to masculinity.

A lot of these end up making men turn into rigid, harsh and unlikable people even if they make good providers and protectors
Probably the most disciplined person Ive ever met in the whole world is also one of the warmest, nicest, and a very wise person.

Its fascinating to witness these Olympic level mental gymnastics pretending toxic masculinity isnt a thing, downplaying it, diluting it until it loses meaning.

Like Hey, lets hack off the word masculinity because Im feeling super called out! Im bristling with anger and misogynistic rage right now from hearing toxic and masculinity put together!

bro, just no.

this behavior doesnt make you more of a man. Its toxic.

its so strange how many men take this shit incredibly personally when 99% of the time they suffer under it as well and they just refuse to acknowledge it as such

Hey Shadowman

The following sentence

I saw this

Feels like it's a weird thing to admit that you're pissed off by the term because you yourself want to be as toxic as you possibly can be

As for a new term, people have definitely proposed a new term. One can can easily just call something just, toxic. Things both men and women do that's toxic doesn't have to be specifically dubbed masculinity all the time the moment it's toxic, with the attitude that no matter what it's only masculinity inherently pushing certain toxic things.

Actually I want to circle back to that, and why toxic masculinity is a better term than just saying toxic. Imagine someone a real narrow stereotypical view of masculinity who goes "You're not a man because XX."

Saying "that's toxic" is going to be the phrasing that gets the reply of "oh I'm toxic because I'm a man? I'm not going to apologize for not being XX like you." Saying that's a "toxic definition of masculinity" or that's "toxic masculinity" for short gets to the heart of the issue and directly implies that there are better definitions of masculinity. Vaguely saying "that's toxic" is less clear on what you're specifically calling toxic and more likely leads to the interpretation you don't want.
