Arent you worried about your liver? I dont drink anymore, but in the past have spent like 6 years drinking 2-3 1.75mls of whiskey a week and i always think about the day it catches up to me and i start to turn yellow

hey, me too but I've had a couple periods where I hardly drink at all

I've never really tried. There's only been a couple times within recent years that I didn't drink, and it was because I had Covid or food poisoning.

Eugh I just realized how mean spirited my post sounds.

But death by liver failure is horrible and like, I guess you can't reserve a hospice for the pain meds.

I can get up and go to work without drinking. But I drink non-stop when I'm not at work.

You don't ever feel adverse health effects from continuous days of drinking? I have periods where I go hard and my body starts to feel out of equilibrium and it makes me concerned with what's happening so I'll either take a break or lessen how much I'm drinking.

I know there's shit wrong with my stomach but I ignore it.

I get it. Literally the only reason I'm not a bigger/more 'active' alcoholic is because I just can't afford it. Doesn't help that after 1-2 beers I feel the need to make a text.

What started you on this path?

My story on becoming an alcoholic isn't a particularly interesting one. No tragic backstory or anything like that. I just really like drinking.

I come from a world where drinking is very normalized and everyone I know does it to some degree. It's just what you do when you get off work, it's the weekend, you get together with your buddies etc. Eventually it becomes a habit and the line between I do this because I like it and I do this because I need it becomes totally blurred.

By working. It's an expensive habit but it's affordable. It also helps that I don't go to bars very often these days. I mostly just drink at home and when I do go out it's usually just to a buddies place.

I'm currently drinking James Ready.

It's a smaller Canadian brand, so I doubt it's available outside of a couple provinces here.

The 6.0 is good but I usually go for the regular 5.5 one because they sell that in 30 packs.

I've never been drunk,

maybe you're able to regulate yourself better than i was, but the three years i spent as a total drunk were beyond miserable. i was drinking a 750mL bottle of 40% alcohol a day, sometimes more. i would wake up with the worst hangover you can imagine, then i'd spend about 30 minutes trying to hold down water only to puke it up a couple of minutes later. most of my work day was spent going through withdrawal and i would literally buy a bottle on the way home and start drinking in the car. alcohol was responsible for my misery, but was the only thing that gave me relief.

now i just smoke weed every day and i feel so much better

Hangovers have never really fazed me all that much. I'm always able to get up and go about my day. I actually find that being active helps a lot more than just laying around after a night of drinking.

It's one of the reasons I like walking or riding my bike to work. Even if I wake up feeling like shit, I'm usually fine by the time I get to work.

I've been to a lot memorable shows over the years but my favourite was probably seeing Inepsy and Toxic Holocaust.

Not only do I love both those bands, but everything about the night was amazing. I had a decent sized group of friends that had all come out for the show, it was a beautiful summer night, it was a Saturday so most of us didn't have to work the next day, I had just gotten paid so I had lots of cash for beer and merch.

Both bands were awesome and I had an absolute blast, and to top it all off a lady friend of mine came home with me for the night.
