Have you never seen these before?

the idea is you scan your card when you enter, then the convenience store tracks what you take off the shelf and automatically charges you when you leave so you dont have to do a checkout

it doesnt work as well as they initially claimed, though

EDIT: it says right there in the picture just walk out

Nope. It might be a regional thing because I've never seen one anywhere near Atlanta where I live, even at the airport. I was at LAX yesterday and I thought it was strange. But with the minimum wage I can see more things like this happening in some markets. Similar to the New York restaurants experimenting with having their cashier's "Face timing" you from Indonesia or the Philippines.
