Shit I was just in the yard at my parents place and the fucker bumrushed me. I was not expecting it.

Fortunately we all have a pistol with us (mine was in the golf cart) because its the country.

Tbh the big herbiviores are usually scarier then the big Carnivores. Snakes are the deadliest predator but that is almost entirely a function of venom rather then physical threat and many of the dangerous ones aren't very big.

A predator if you resist good chance it backs off. They know people don't like em and aren't worth the trouble. Big Cats, Wolves etc. generally ignore or avoid people and if being loud, erratic and making yourself look big don't work, a good stone throw, charge or good blow to the nose or groin will send em packing. And a bullet is a lot more effective on most the big predators then on the big herbiviores. Shooting a wolf dead? Not exactly a rare thing. Shooting an attacking hippo dead? Lol. Lmao even.

You pissed off a Boar, Rhino, Kangaroo, Buffalo, Moose, Hippo or Elephant though? Man you are FUCKED. And they often are fat as fuck or have stupid thick skulls. Not to mention the car accidents too. Fuckin deer.

Hell even Horses and Ungulates will fuck you up. Anything horselike can disembowl you or break your skull/spine/neck with a single kick.

Of course insects are the true killers because they spread disease or become parasites...

Boars are wildly adaptable. Spain used to bring pigs with them when exploring. If they found good land they'd release them into the wild knowing that they would conquer their new ecosystem and provide a ready food supply when the settlers came back a few years later to get set up. Pigs are also pretty much barely domesticated compared to boars. Supposedly they can go back to their feral states in just two generations.

Some scientists believe that if not apes, it would have been boars who conquered the earth and possibly achieved sapience. Basically just real life orcs.

Back in the day when people hunted them with spears they needed special ones with bits sticking out right behind the head to keep pissed off boars from just continuing to push into the spear to come kill your ass.
