Maybe it was because I watched it at home and not a theater, or maybe because I was over the age of 15 at the time, but I found that scene to be cringy af. Its one of the best scenes. I visually remember my and my family's reaction in the theater and that was a decade ago. Keep in mind I hadn't watched the other ape movies at the time, so I know only the basics and that this was a setup. There comes a point when watching this movie that you kinda get the feeling he knows hoe to speak but hasn't yet. When that moment comes it changes the entire film after it, the apes actually start winning and the paradigm shifts.
