In 2022 or 2023 I applied for a Discover card that was recommended for cash back rewards and such, and I got it, with a $9500 limit. So I basically just pay almost everything with that, trying not to go over $2000-2500, then pay it off as soon. As the statement is released. May as well get 1% - 5% cash back on the money I was going to spend anyway. I had a plan to get on top of my debt, have some cushion, and only have two payments (a card and a loan) Life hit like a bag of bricks and my debt quintupled in the span of 2 weeks. It's not that hard to have a pretty high score as long as: You're immaculate with payments Have a lot of history (most of CE is mid age or older so accounts should be pretty aged by now) And utilization of overall limit isn't too high. --- The name is wackyteen for a reason.
