I feel like this is gonna be the most blatantly obvious vote of the post-merge. F5 in the new era always seems to be just taking out the obvious big threat. It only wasn't in 45 because Jake found an idol and threw a wrench in everyone's plans.

Yeah, everyone should know that if they let Maria through to the next round, she's gonna win the season.

If Liz and Charlie vote Ben out here, they both deserve to lose. Both of them will beat Ben but not Maria. Kenzie at least knows that Maria's pitch makes her even scarier, and she's airing that at Tribal.

Yeah, that round was pretty much EXACTLY the same as Ricard's boot in 41. And to a lesser extent Lindsay in 42 and Lauren in 44.

I know David vs. Goliath is largely beloved, but this season feels like how I felt about DvG...just kinda deflating and puttering out starting at the F8. This season obviously had more and bigger individual moments, but overall, it's just starting to flatten.

That music felt like what would play when a character has to euthanize a dog. Made the obvious vote even more obvious. Maria is a badass and deserves it as a person, even if she wasn't exactly a good TV character.

Also Liz owning what she did for Kenzie makes it very obvious she's not winning. That's the key difference between this and TAR, when all those teams gave each other answers. Kenzie would destroy her in a jury vote.

Ugh...I'm not spoiled in any way, but based off that last segment, I think I know how the season is gonna end.

Someone other than Liz wins immunity, Liz gets sent to make fire and completely flops, going out in fourth place.

The jury splits their votes 4-4 between Charlie/Kenzie, thus Ben has to decide between his two best friends who wins the million dollars.

The Ben/Kenzie pairing is gonna play out here. Either Kenzie wins the Final IC and takes Ben with her, or Ben gives her his jury vote after losing at fire to Charlie.

Thank God this wasn't Simmotion again.

Liz thinks Nami will vote for her, but she will say the Soda move was actually hers and they'll laugh at her. She's got no shot. Charlie and Kenzie are the only two contenders here.

This challenge is fun. Which season was this on previously...? I forget, they all blend together now.

I think it was previously a Big Brother challenge.

That FIC was really cool. I liked it.

I really don't think Liz blatantly helping Kenzie like that should have been allowed. I know there's precedent for it but that was probably the most extreme example we've ever seen and I wouldn't be surprised if they implement a new rule about it going forward.

Finding it very hard to enjoy this episode because my dad (I watch these with him via Google Meet) has been whining about the "CHEATING" Liz and Kenzie did in the prior immunity challenge. I told him if he brings it up one more time, I'm hanging up on him.

Also Ben is probably picking Kenzie... the vice-versa of what I had expected. I didn't think Ben had a challenge win in him at this point.

Ben would be foolish to take Charlie with him to the end. He's already looking like a fool by talking about who needs the money the most. Juries don't take that into consideration.

Liz being final juror is... weird. She's not winning at fire with her weird wrists. Or is she?

Ben wins FIC and then proceeds to destroy his game before TC.

Ben is cracking under the pressure of this decision. Why not pull the Underwood Gambit so he doesn't have to worry about it?

Also that segment was far more boring than a vote scrambling. Watching people make fire is lame. Why haven't they axed it yet? Ben would have the same emotional reaction if there was a vote and Kenzie and Charlie both said they were voting for the other!

Honestly, this finale as a whole has been kinda boring. Obvious Maria boot, and now obvious Liz firemaking loss. After a whole season of chaos and excitement, I can't believe 46 is going out with such a whimper.

What would happen if the cast decided - unanimously, of course - that they wanted a vote instead of fire-making?

Ben is probably the 0 vote getter. Especially after all Kenzie did for him. It's a decision that will blow up in his face, most likely.

Also... they sent fire-making kits to their camp in the past? Why is this the first we've heard of that?

Liz was SUCH good casting.

That prep Kenzie did was a little over-the-top, but Liz doing none of it was the key. Every time Liz got a flame, it didn't stick.

Also Liz is delusional to think she'd have cleaned up jury votes. I sincerely doubt that.

No clue if it's Charlie or Kenzie winning this now. Votes for each, barring a total meltdown...

...no idea who the rest of them vote for tbh. I think it's up in the air! Liz could potentially be swung by Charlie, too. Ben gets nothing.

Really loved that Ponderosa shot of the jury. Something new and different, paired with the Golden Era "Jury Speaks" statements.

I hope they do the jury deliberations like they did in 45, where they KINDA still use the open forum format but Jeff calls each of them to speak by name and each person gets one segment, just like they did pre-34.

Yeah, I hope they do that again... and don't edit out a juror's question like they did to Bruce in 45.

This is the same format the Australian edition has been using for a good while, and Survivor SA used in its last season or two. It's exactly how things should be, the jurors get the floor, Jeff shuts up, and there isn't any grandstanding that overshadows the finalists.

Very impressed with Venus's question. If you know when you made a mistake, and then can use it to your advantage.

Except for Q's, these questions have been stellar. Very direct and to the point, and getting the finalists to set themselves apart.

My final vote prediction...

This feels like it could go either way. Maybe it ties between Kenzie and Charlie, and Ben instinctively votes Kenzie like he did the previous time. Which I know has been said, but still.

43 and 44 were won by men
45 and 46 were won by women

Will 47 and 48 be won by men and keep this pattern up?

I've gotta say, Maria being the deciding vote for Kenzie is...unexpected.

Bahahaha. I've gotta say, there's something satisfying about seeing Charlie play a perfect little gamebot game all season and talk about options and have his episode with 16 confessionals, and he just looks SO defeated.

I thought Charlie would have won it if it was 5-3. I thought Kenzie's edit was explaining why she lost, especially with the Tiff vote-out.

My dad described Charlie's game as somewhat Spradlinesque, while Kenzie felt too immature. He's very burned by this finale lol

He definitely feels Spencer-esque. Like, he played very robotic and thought he was the best player because he was the best strategist.

Yup, that's exactly what he said. He was talking about how "Jill" (he mistook Kim's name as "Jill" for a year or two and kinda ran with the in-joke) had all these contingency plans that made her a strategic force, and that Charlie did too. He was seeing Charlie as the flexible strategic player who was keeping bridges with everyone and outplaying Kenzie.

I mean, he looks kinda like a cross between Spencer and Adam Klein, so there is that. And he finished as runner-up just as Spencer did.

I mean, Charlie played the best strategic game here, there's no denying that, but I think he lacked in opening up to people, and that helped Kenzie beat him since she at least did that. Being vulnerable and open with jurors goes a long way in securing their votes - farther than being the best strategist does. But on the other hand, this jury had someone basing his vote on who would use the money the way he deemed most noble, someone basing her entire decision on private parts, and... a few I'm still a little confused about. One of which is Liz's vote for Charlie. Another of which is Maria's vote for Kenzie. My dad didn't want to watch the After Show since he'd checked out for the night so I didn't watch it yet. Only want to watch it once.

Still, congrats to Kenzie. She earned it by playing a better social game than Charlie. Survivor is not human chess, people!

Was also disappointed that Jeff didn't call it "Forty-Several" like he was supposed to.

That montage was fantastic

This was the worst finale in the entire 24 year history of the show. I'm in awe at how horrific and indefensible that was. Fuck all of these people and I pray I never see any of them on screen again.

I mean, considering there's a season whose finale, in my opinion, drags it from being a top 10 season to barely being a top half season, I very much disagree.

I can name several finales that are worse. Australian Outback (which had only 3 people and really dragged), Caramoan, Kaoh Rong, Game Changers, HHH, Edge of Extinction, and Island of the Idols.

Was this a good finale? Heck no, all these "New Era" finales are redundant. But it wasn't bad, either.

lost in the hot mess of the ending is my reminder that liz being allowed to go onto kenzie's course and retrieve her piece for her is complete bullshit. albert couldn't pick up sophie's fucking stack, why is this any different?

I thought Kenzie's answers were humble. She didn't make huge moves, but she was largely in the know (aside from the Tiffany blindside), and it wasn't like Charlie could necessarily lay claim to anything Maria couldn't also lay claim to (plus he was part of that group of four at the endgame just like everyone else). We as the audience just think he was a stronger player than the cast did because we got all those confessionals about his strategy that no one else got to see.
