Republicans know they'll be dead once climate change starts really hurting humans so they're just going to try and exploit and profit as much as they can. The average conservative just believe everything Republicans and the rich say so they're fine with letting the world go to shit. They don't even care about their grandchildren and so on. Shows what kind of people they are.

I just love the hypocrisy of it. Like ok, let's not debate the climate change part of this. This bill bans offshore wind turbines. Like not just state funding of them. An outright ban. So much free market happening.

And so far it's looking like people on the left will continue to let states get away with this crap by focusing all in on social issues and short term humanitarian crises? Not to knock other issues, but climate change should be the leading issue for all of the first world, and yet people keep getting fixated on crap that will be relatively meaningless to people alive 50 years from now. Republicans have succeeded in making climate change just a dismal afterthought to young, mainstream lefties, and it is not the leading voting issue it should be.

Edit: Anyone that thinks Democrats aren't largely to blame with climate crises due to their own complacency is a fucking ignorant moron. You can even count me as part of said pool of Democrats, but it won't get better for anyone if we keep shifting blame to people that aren't us, as if we are absolutely without any means of influencing how the modern world handles these issues.

Unlike social issues, which have fewer corporate defenders, environmental issues could actually risk these Captain Planet villain corporations from losing money. Destructive companies and industries dont care if someone is lgbtq+ or what war crimes are being committed (so long as it doesnt interfere with profits). But trying to not destroy the planet would make some people less money.

It's weird because overall Republicans have shifted away from "Climate change is a hoax and not real, stop talking about it as if it is. Those 99% of scientists whose job involves knowing where they're talking about in regards to the climate doesn't matter because I can point out dentists and chiropractors who say it's fake" to "ok fine, it's real, but it's too late to do anything and fossil fuel money go brrrrrrr".

People like DeShitbag are the last holdout of the former and it's so ludicrous that any of them thinks stuff like this still sells. It certainly sells to some, however I bet even many MAGA Floridians are like wtf as they personally see how climate change has changed the place they've lived in for most of their lives. The younger Republicans pretty much all accept it's real, they just disagree on how to tackle it.

The issue is a LOT of voters don't actually believe in climate change and many who do don't think humans can actually affect the climate and that it's just natural cycles. You can thank decades of disinformation campaigns. These people actually think they're informed on the subject.

Democrats as a whole have lost sight on this being the biggest issue we should tackle right now. This includes moderates that want to support the capitalist status quo and young protestor progressives that act like the President that passed the largest energy bill we've gotten is nothing more than a genocidal dictator. There is a real problem with Democrats that needs addressing because we're letting the real issues continue to fuck the world while infighting over lesser issues runs rampant.

Literally no President has done more for climate change or green initiatives than President Biden. The Democrats I'm frustrated with are the ones attacking Biden, for all kinds of shit he can't really control and still win the election, even though he's actually got his head where it needs to be (yes, in spite of his age) in terms of what we can do as a country in mitigating as much of the issue as possible.

My biggest takeaway from this is that I would urge people to keep voting Democrat, regardless of whatever distractions come up within the party, because the worst thing you can do is let Republicans win.

No matter how disappointing and limp-dick Dems may be on the issue here and there, they will never be more at fault than those actively causing harm.

Wow, so now you want to argue "largely to blame" was meant to suggest they were more to blame than Republicans? Obviously, Republicans are the real enemy here. But we still have plenty room to blame ourselves for letting ourselves lose elections when we don't get exactly the candidate we want. If we could have had a Democratic president in 2017 through 2020, and I mean almost ANY Democrat, things would be a lot better. But we can't have that because enough Democrats believed there were justifiable reasons for them sitting out on that election. Now we're looking at the same possible scenario in 2024 because apparently we just don't learn.

People are not even denying it anymore but just care to much about there personal enjoyment over a doomed future...it really is at the point were most know they are screwed but would rather spend every moment they can how they want and let everyone else live in ruins.

Its like, we know now that most plastic stuff might give you cancer and just shrug it off...humanity really is becoming a race that knows its dooming itself for short term pleasure and is a race that as a whole has no real restraint.

This is more or less what I meant by them being a bit past the denial phase. I'm not praising any of them for waiting until they can no longer deny the obvious, but just acknowledging shifting tides among the mainstream American electorate to the point that Republicans of a certain sophistication can't just sidestep the issue with having mixed political constituents to keep in mind. Just unfortunately, it still isn't shifting anywhere near fast enough.

If we fail to elect Biden in 2024, we will be letting Republicans continue to fuck the world through climate change. A lot of Democrats are still shitting on Biden during an election year and suggesting others not vote for him out of protest even though he's actually been the best president we've had for this particular issue. Those Democrats are the ones I really would like to call out.
That has nothing to do with what you said. You blamed Dems for not getting Republicans in line, as if they had any choice in how Republicans act.
