My neighbors usually acknowledge me first but I always reciprocate

My next door neighbours are fantastic. Elderly couple, but very, very far left. Went on Brexit protests. Annoy the conservatives up the road by posting anti-Tory comments on the neighbourhood WhatsApp.

In the summer you can hear them play games with their grandchildren like 'knock Trump's wall down'.

Unless we are in a hurry most if not all the people in my area stop and wave or chat. The community has a gathering every month, two times a week during the holiday seasons.

I almost always go unless my work schedule has me on assignment.

Always.

I look their direction for a few seconds. If they look nack my way I'll interact, typically a smile and wave. If they don't look my way I don't push for an interaction.

I live in a townhome. If Im outside at the same time as one of my next door neighbors (like taking the trash out), Ill say hello. Or if Im backing my car out while they are outside, Ill wave. We never really make small talk. And if Im outside as someone walks by on the sidewalk, Ill smile and say hi.

I dont wave to every single person in the neighborhood if Im driving around. Ive noticed that in my brothers neighborhood, everyone waves as you drive by them. Its friendly, but it feels forced to me.

I'm not a very social person and even when I am, I'm probably a bit socially awkward. But I'll still say hello if I see them.

I'm super close with a few of my neighbors, and pretty casual with the rest.

Sometimes

I try not to be noticed. My neighbors like me, but I just want to go about my business without being pulled into random conversations about nothing on my way to the car.
