I don't mind the Aerith part. I just wish you got more use out of the mechanic. Felt odd to introduce it right at the end of the game and for just this one section.

I really liked TotA in general. The design, the gravity stuff (could have done more with it tbh), the character stuff. It was only really some of the story stuff that happened after escaping that bothered me. Convoluted and choked the life out of the game's most famous moment

The moment itself I also did not mind as much. But having an extended action scene before that and another boss montage after Jenova felt like overkill.
I wish we could have explored more of the Forgotten city as well.

I imagine they're saving this for Part 3, since you go there again in Disc 2 of the original game. If we did all of the original's Disc 1 in parts 1 and 2, they would've been running out of new places to go in Part 3 anyway.

Honestly, I was kinda glad after a long Temple of the Ancients to have a short Forgotten City part this game.

I didn't like how the atmosphere of the forgotten city kinda got choked out too. The creepy atmosphere, etc

The real shame is that Bone Village and the excavation mini-game got cut

^ that reminds me, it's funny looking back on Rebirth because I loved the game so much but when you look at individual locations or moments there's a lot of "I like how it was in the original game more". I wouldnt expect to have said that so much, but that speaks to Rebirth's strength in other areas, I guess.

At least we got the great 'underwater' vibes, for a bit.

We need to go back to the Forgotten City in part 3 if only to get a proper version of You Can Hear the Cry of the Planet and not the small sample we got in the Temple of the Ancients.

I just started the game the other day and have spent way too much time exploring the grasslands. The PS5 is for serious.

The Nibelheim sequence was done beautifully, but the scene where Cloud questions if Tifa is really Tifa was rough to watch. Was surprised I didn't get to crack some Shrina terrorist skulls at Kalm (we all know they're the real terrorists here). Currently at Bill's Farm, already caught Piko, and got clobbered by Titan in the Chadley sim last night.

Since I'm playing on Dynamic, I have a feeling I won't have this game beated until at least August, maybe even later. It's great, isn't it?

I was able to take out any summons at lowest level without any grinding. (Including the Gilgamesh double summons.)

Same, just played those on normal when I got there and didn't struggle. Was probbaly close to level 50.

Not trying to brag. Most if not all of them weren't first try. All I'm saying is that what the Assess info tells you is pretty important in those fights. Moreso than most normal fights. But I had a way easier time with Summons than I did in Remake.

Alexander and Odin were particularly shaky, though.

Oh also Summon fights are Synced to your level in the game, so straight grinding means very little.

I did the bee thing and then pretty much smoked the Gilgamesh summons first try. One attempt to feel out Odin/Alex a bit but that was all. Odin didn't even get off a Zantetsuken.

I guess I'll start the hard mode playthrough soon.

This game is just damn awesome. No other game gives you a moment like this. I was so into it! The timing was so GOOD!

The piano minigame is horribly designed.

I love the piano minigame lol.

The two sides are positioned horribly for you to see both of them comfortably.

The piano minigame is fine if all you care about is getting an A rank and not a perfect score.

I didn't mind going for A rank on Piano too much, but have at least played rhythm games in the past. I watched a youtube video for the Two legs song, which helped me to learn the note timing.

My least favorite minigames were probably Glide de Chocobo, sit ups, and G Bike (before I learned of the slow down strategy).

Can't wait for the exercise minigame in part three where the prompts are invisible the entire time

Sit ups weren't bad tbh. Gears and Gambits has been number one with a bullet so far. Absolutely vile. All the others are like, mostly fine, bearable at worst.

Gears and Gambits wasn't that bad. Fort Condor with the changes from Remake was way worse.

Didn't even attempt hard mode with either of those though.

Oh yeah, Condor was bad, but I forgot how bad it was - I identified it as "bad" and copied a YT video move-for-move straight away, so it ended up being painless

Gears and Gambits I identified as bad, did the same thing, it didn't work at first, and that made it even worse

Haven't gotten to gears and gambits yet. But sit-ups weren't that bad. They were fun, even. As long as you turn off Trigger Effect Intensity.

Have you considered that maybe you're just bad at it? Gears and Gambits really isn't that hard, especially since the game gives you a number of presets you can use.

I never had time to be bad at it. Rejected immediately as bad and a youtube guide situation. I guess I am or would be bad at it, but I started it and I was just like "nope, fuckin done". Minigame burnout maybe.

Fort Condor was fine. That said, I didn't play Intergrade, so I can't compare.

I still remember when they released a patch and one of the patch update notes was "made G&G Hard mode even harder" and I lost it. Just glad I finished that off before the patch...

Fort Condor is really a ton more fun in Intergrade so I really found it lacking here as well, unfortunately.

The key to G&G Hard mode is realizing that anything besides attacking is a waste of time. Like you think you need to be healing on one's where you have limited units, but nah.

They added a slider for that at some point so you don't actually have to change game difficulty.

Yeah, maybe this is why I didn't find it too difficult. All I did was attack and I never felt the need to try anything else because it worked.
