As long as the list of countries with no real access to PSN is absurdly long, it will always cause some backlash.

Helldivers 2 is still locked for these regions, with no official word at all except "Sony is talking with Steam about that".

HD2 also said you would need a PSN account. The difference was you didnt actually need it until after launch.

It's actually not. Helldivers had stated players needed a PSN account for their game before the game was available for preorder. What happened was it's launch was awful and trying to link your PSN account to the game caused the game to crash. So Arrowhead disabled the requirement while stating it would be temporary.

Why? God of War doesn't even have multiplayer.

Seems like that's the way companies want things to be. I've never had an Xbox nor do I use Gamepass, yet I have an Xbox account in order to play Grounded.

They were up front last time as well. The issue is they couldn't implement it at launch for technical reasons. But it wasn't exactly a bait and switch some people are making it out to be. To me the main problem was allowing people in non PSN countries the ability to buy the game in the first place which Steam rectified by allowing people to claim refunds.

I still don't like the PSN requirement tbh and you're right to say it makes stupid business sense to cripple your sales in this way by excluding so many countries. Although on the flip side a lot of the countries people listed that didn't have PSN also don't have Steam as well which people don't seem to mention.

Ultimately I feel it's just the internet doing internet things because they don't like Sony. Where the hell were all these topics for other games that needed 3rd party accounts to use. There have been countless similar situations over the years.

There's enough wrong with the truth of the situation without needing to over exaggerate the claims. If you feel the need to embellish the situation to make your point that's tacit admission you feel the actual truth isn't bad enough to stand on it's own merits and imo actually diminishes your argument. But this is the modern world and headlines and click bait headlines rule these days. I know some people hate the click bait culture we have but by over exaggerating the issues those people are actually partaking in the same problems they claim to be against.

The problem is that Steam have regions.
land is a region in Steam. land does not appear on any list of countries with PSN support, so Steam stopped selling the game in land.
In reality land counts as Finland and have PSN.

For most normal people, taking 5 mins to make an account isnt a big deal. Same way Ive had to sign up for blizzard and otherS when playing their games on PS5.

As long as Sony keeps bringing their exclusives to PC I really don't know that I'll be buying a PS6 when it inevitably comes out.

I am not a fan of this having to link it so your PSN account though and I hope that gets changed.

The game is already a huge success.

Its also pretty funny that PC players are just now getting PS exclusives and talking about them as if theyre new releases.

Part of the issue is that the game will likely be delisted from multiple countries since they legally can't use PSN. Look at when Helldivers 2 had the PSN requirement and 30+ countries couldn't buy it for a while.

The honest answer is I don't know for sure. As others have alluded to probably to boost PSN numbers, get data on users habits, advertising etc.

Completely understand why people aren't happy with it. My issues are:

1) A lot of people are just using this as an excuse to bash Sony. It's not surprise a lot of the more vocal people are people who have come out and stated they are anti-sony in the past.
2) People need to vote with their wallets.
3) Some people need to stop pretending they care whether someone in some random country can't play the game just because it gives them a chance to bash Sony.

If you're argument is against PSN in general then just go with that argument. As I said above...
