Another really great character introduced in the second game. I feel like this one will have mixed responses, with a lot of people finding her irritating, but she's in my top 10.

I feel like the games want me to take Franziska seriously as a prosecutor, but aside from the first day of 2-2, I just can't. This is really driven home in 3-5 where Edgeworth spends the entire day just wrecking her.

She can be funny, but she basically has one gimmick. I think she has some understated development, but it's a little too understated because it never really changes her behavior.

Not gonna lie she's kinda adorbs in E1-4 though

I want to give Franziska a 10 but I'm trying to be as sparing as possible with them lmao and to be fair, she is underutilized, so I guess it is only fitting. If I had to nitpick, the whipping gimmick does hinder the pacing in a few moments, but besides that I have no issues with her quirks.

I adore how unapologetic she is and how brazen. Her relationship with Edgeworth is pretty great. My girlfriend has pointed out a multiple times the resemblance between their behaviour and her relationship with her own brothers, so that's neat! It really feels authentic to how siblings treat each other. I love her working with Phoenix in 3-5 too. Their banter is such a little treat lmao... Plus there's details like how hurt she seems by Pearly being mad at her, or her working tirelessly to break the locks and doing all that last minute research on for the case. Oh this explains why I like that aspect of Nahyuta's character.

And my GOD her ending in 2-4 is so good. Finally breaking down at the end before Edgeworth and we get to see that crying sprite ... All after she came in clutch during the trial. Fighting the pain she's going through just to deliver the evidence last minute. Yeah I'm gonna stop before I keep rambling.

O right. Forgot to rate Pearly yesterday. She's a good example of the right way to make a child character. I don't have strong feelings towards her, but I like the levity she provides and how she kind of just partially exists to further the worldbuilding of the Kurain stuff .... but also she's still fully realised as a character?

She is completely ineffective as a prosecutor and a joke at it which I don't like. But she gets some props for being completely believable as Manfred's daughter.

What makes her much better than Manfred is she's not chiefly used as a prosecutor and she's actually an enjoyable character when used in other roles.

My favorite prosecutor. You spend all of Justice For All going 'This whip-wielding woman is completely nuts!' with her tactics in the courtroom and then at the end it turns out that...yeah, she actually is ill.

She's fantastic as support in 3-5, as this incredibly helpful but also aggressively hostile partner. Wish she handed the card over to Phoenix though.

Her main issue is that since then she's been stuck in the Edgeworth games which were aggressively bad for basically every returner aside from Edgeworth himself, but it's not enough to cost how fantastic she was in the OG trilogy.

Normally these games aren't super subtle about themes, but they never mention a word about this one in the script, it's an entirely unstated characterization.

I envy you people who like Franziska. She was a big reason why 2-2 and 2-3 were such drags. Better in 2-4 and 3-5...which kinda just proves she's only decent when not a focus character.

Well, the circumstances are totally different. She was shot in public and Edgeworth forced her to go to the hospital rather than attempt to go to court. I think the only parallel you're meant to draw there is that she got shot in the shoulder like her father did.

Well, that, and the bullet is one of the final pieces of evidence like with Manfred, but it's a red herring with Franziska.

...Huh, I wonder if they were trying to fool the player into picking the bullet because of 1-4. Never even occurred to me until now.

It's still a neat parallel though even if that's all it is.
