His attempts to modernise the country while navigating politically the Wahhabi influence on the country have, in my opinion, been a masterpiece in trying political and religious manoeuvring. I know KSA get a lot of shit for their attempts at sportwashing the country but I think its a good sort of the process in trying to fundamentally change the culture over there and something as engrained as Wahhabism is going to take generations to change but good steps have been made to date. I think we should be supporting their attempts to liberalise the country rather than criticising that they arent moving fast enough.
