Today, Beyond Good & Evil: 20th Anniversary Edition resurfaced with a release date. Ubisoft says the game is launching on June 25, 2024.

Sometimes I forget this was an ubi game, from from days before they devolved into whatever you'd call them now.

Tempted to get this on ps5 instead of pc so i don't have to deal with u play crap

Surely they know that re-releasing the first game is just going to reignite questions about where the hell the sequel is.

I think it's more insane that Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time is Ubisoft. But yeah considering Ubisoft's identity of the past like, 15+ years, it's kinda crazy that they were the ones behind a certifiable classic like PoP (though it makes more sense when you look at the sequels)

While I liked BGE for its very 2000s gen 6 era vibe and playstyle, that laughably pathetic cliffhanger sequel hook definitely feels like what I think of Ubisoft now.

Maybe this is showing that the sequel is being worked on again and they want to drum up interest!

I am intrigued by new content. The game was awesome but damn short. Like, 4 big dungeons and you're done short.

Hopefully. But apparently the game restarted development, so it looks different than the gameplay they originally showed us... And hearing that kind of makes me nervous

No that's a good thing. What they showed us looked nothing like BG&E. Like, not at all. I don't think BG&E and think "open space adventure!" I think "conspiracy theory investigative journalism with a nice mystery and Zelda flare".

My dream is they show off BG&E2 again, it looks like it plays like the first game, announce it's coming this year, and, best of all, it's a sequel not a prequel.

I should have phrased that differently. What I mean is this:

Images and video provided to Insider Gaming under anonymity and under the condition the images dont go public suggests that the game has probably been rebooted since the Pre-Alpha Demo Walkthrough shown in 2018; as nothing seen shows the same level of detail.

The majority of the images and footage provided to Insider Gaming show bare planets with blocked structures for buildings. Any structures that had some form of detail were very low quality; almost like the game was being played on an ultra-low setting.

It gives me Duke Nukem vibes, with how, after years of development, what was finally previewed to the public was very low quality. And the game ended up being a mess.

The remaster of the first game has been in development for a year or two.

The sequel has been in development for 16 years, longer than Duke Nukem Forever.

Oh yeah it definitely is in a form of dev hell. But I just hope that a reboot of the dev and a smaller scale would help them out.

Limited Run Games to release a physical version. Just revealed with their showcase

According to a trailer that also went live earlier today, this improved version of Beyond Good & Evil will feature a new treasure hunt, an art gallery, a newly improved soundtrack, 60 FPS gameplay, a speedrun mode, and support for 4K resolution. Sounds pretty cool, but its still weird we will have received two different remasters of this game before the sequel ever arrives.

Nice, a speed run mode and one more treasure hunt to go on.

Been a long while, but there's some side content in random caves where you can get more pearls, lore and some hidden animals for your photography collection. I assume they are adding some kind of other one where you go find secret spots for...something!

Dunno but more content for a really swift game is fine with me. Seriously, you could beat the game 100% in like 8 hours. It's a brief but awesome game. Jade is one of the best female protagonists I've ever played.

The fact that they made BG&E2 a prequel when there's a sequel hook at the end of BG&E blows my mind
