I remember in the mid 2010s Greece was in a really bad place with their economy. Wonder if this will help or not.

I don't like the "first" in that sentence. Is this something other countries are pushing for?

No.

If anything, the push is for a 4 day week.

This feels like something Praeger U would push. It seems stupid and bad, but I can see corporate America taking notice of this.

When isn't Greece in a bad place with their economy?

Wonder if this will help or not.
No way in hell, but the billionaires will be only too happy to see that the lower classes are being driven that much closer to being slaves.

This seems like an absurdly stupid move. I don't think I could stand working 6 days per week for any amount of time before burnout sets in.

Greece is so poor they almost don't have any billionaires. Google says there are 10, and the richest among them doesn't even crack the top 400. For comparison, Germany has 126 billionaires, Italy has 63, and the UK has 52.

The results are obvious.

Productivity down, wages stagnant, suicides up, brain drain up, healthcare spend per person up

I saw this on a few of our local news shows. On every one of the them they all said that the additional hours were optional, but more importantly (to some I suppose), would also come with a 40% pay increase for the workers salary.

Now, for me a 40% pay increase for an additional 8 hours work per week seems reasonable, especially given the extra work is (allegedly) voluntary.

Edit: So, looking into this a bit further, the 40% salary increase only applies to the extra 8 hours of work
LOL not even time and a half. The squeezing of labor is fucking ridiculous.

So in about 5 years, Greece will face a financial crisis... assuming it isn't in one now.

I don't know. Except for like a bailout or something about a decade ago, I don't know much about the Greek economy
