I'm imagining it right down because of hurricane beryl. But imagine if we lost the knowledge of electricity and never have it return.

I'd rather not

Also that's the premise of the movie "Into the Forest" if you're interested.

I had watched a video a while back where they were theorizing how far backwards our grasp of technology could regress due to one reason or another and the resulting effects it would have on society, and even getting sent back to Victorian era technology would be quite devastating. I cant imagine how worse it would be if we somehow lost the ability to harness electricity for our tech.

"We" could survive, in the sense that survival of the fittest would hit very hard and kill off most of us. But humans as a whole came from this, and can do it again.

We'd find other ways, eventually. But it'd be a big setback.

Id be out of a job since I work at a power plant literally making electricity.

Also if you want to see people collectively lose their shit online and turn into full blown Karen mode when normally through almost every other situation they are normal? Have them lose electricity.

Nah, not if it just up and vanished. If we had a world in which there was never electricity, we'd be ok, but we've got all our fine china on that tablecloth.

The third world would probably fare a lot better than the developed world. So I mean, humanity would survive, but "we" as CEmen would almost certainly not make it.

Yeah, as a whole, humanity would survive since we lived without electricity for most of our existence.

But man, would it absolutely suck for those of us accustomed to modern society.

There was a CYOA book about this. In the book, aliens had taken over Earth, and because their ships were extremely sensitive to the kind of electricity we used, the aliens decreed they'd unleash a devastating attack against any area where they detected anything electrical being used. We still had our bicycles and trains that had been retrofitted with steam engines.

I think food would be the biggest issue. With no refrigeration it would be hard to get perishable things before they go bad. Plus all the electrical equipment used to process food wouldn't work.

Followed by heating/cooling. Most people don't have fireplaces anymore and some rooms don't have windows so they'd turn into an oven.

Smoking, salting, and pickling still are popular and effective methods of preservation.

Also, outdoor stone or brick fire pits are fairly easy to make.
