events happen all the time and nobody talks about the UFC despite how exciting it is to watch

Exciting? It's generally pretty boring for me....

For every exciting fight there 5 where they just dance around or roll around on the ground

I like ufc and boxing. Theres just too many up and coming fighters to keep up with. Ill watch dudes beat each other up over sportsball any day.

It's literally just bum fights.

I don't know the fights anymore

CEO is a MAGA asshole which puts me off.

Never been much of a sportsl or event watcher either.

combat sports just arent as popular now it's too violent people know more about head injuries and their effects now

Stopped watching around the time Dana White went full MAGA.

Last time I saw some UFC fights, the fighters would trade a couple of blows then spend the rest of the match hugging each other.

Its too refined. The athletes are so good now at everything from striking to wrestling it makes the product boring to casual viewers.

The old days when a jacked monster could fight some redneck with a mullet claiming to be a ninja and get massacred was way more fun.

I stopped watching because Joe Rogan annoyed the ever living fuck out of me, before he even had a podcast, or it was renowned.

Dude was legit trash as a commentator and was just grating to listen to. You could tell he'd try to incorporate a new word into his vocabulary each event and it just got so god damn annoying hearing him use it 40 times per fight and like 500 times per event. Hearing him learn the word disdain in real time was something I wish I could forget.

Then there's the whole Dana White shit, he's on camera beating his wife, nobody gives a shit. I do. So fuck that guy and fuck his company.

Now it's become MAGA central. You have MAGA fighters praising trump before, during, and after fights.

I think there's a cap on how popular combat sports are gonna get, for many of the reasons boxing has had a long decline in popularity.

Never could get into it. I liked boxing back in the day and will still watch old fights, but never got into UFC. Even if I did, the MAGA shit would turn me off. That and the entire meathead dudebro aspect of it. I know that will always be present in any sport, but it seems amplified in MMA circles.

In fact, my first exposure to UFC was a highlight reel of best knockouts and I thought "cool, maybe I should get into this" and then I watched some actual matches and nothing happened and you realize those 10 seconds knockout matches are a rarity and it's largely just two dudes circling each other until one goes down to the ground and then it's just two dudes playing grabass

If there was a shot clock or something to force a fighter to do something maybe that would speed it up

Yeah I only watch reruns where they typically only show the good fights

Watched one technically boring but it was impressive dude. Lost but he was a tank. Just kept walking forward eating tons of punches to the face the whole fucking match. Like he really wasn't trying to defend himself and he barely made any strike attempts himself. I'm guessing with the few he did swing he was hoping for a one hit ko

it's not fun. at all. I'm not a huge wwe or even aew, but they're at least more fun to watch because they're more cartoony and over the top. ufc is just people fighting.

Watch ONE Championship, it's essentially Asian UFC but without the MAGA. It's both Kickboxing and MMA rulesets, so it's a good variety for people who don't like the ground game stuff. Stamp Fairtex is my girl <3 You can watch it on Amazon Prime Video, and there are also free fights Friday mornings on Youtube, since they're Singapore based

Its not very accessible just like boxing. If the networks carried it or a streaming service carried it for a reasonable price then people would watch. PPV only live events will never have mass appeal.

Problem #1, lack of star power. Connor was the last superstar and now he's way past his prime.

Problem #2, no real weight class progression. The matches are determined by the owner instead of a system and that turns people off.

I can't imagine why I should care about UFC.

I used to really enjoy combat sports, especially boxing, muay thai, and sumo.

Over time, and especially after seeing how Ali declined, I started enjoying two people publicly destroy their bodies less, and less.

Last boxing match I saw was Mayweather Pacquiao.

Taken at face value, to me, UFC/MMA fighters seem lumbering and less athletic than most boxers. There's something inelegant about it too, when you compare it to boxing. They're on the floor so much. It will never have an Ali, Duran, Hearns, JC Chavez, Hagler, Pacquiao, or Tyson. There was an artistry there.

Then there's all that right wing bullshit, front and center.

It's way more accessible than boxing. The ufc champ is generally considered the best in the world. While in boxing there are multiple organizations and multiple belt champs and it's impossible to tell who the best is.

Got bored of UFC after the mid-1990s when every competitor started to have samey fighting styles.

Pride FC (RIP) was the GOAT IMO. I was young and hyper and used to watch that and the crazy events and endurance tournaments. And even no weight restriction exhibitions etc. Resulted in wild fights :O

Dana killed UFC when he started ignoring the rules for PPV buys. It used to be about the best fighting the best and now it's just whichever jackass can get more clicks. This has caused a huge depletion in talent for the sake of star power. UFC also courted a more casual audience, which doesn't care about talent, only story. This has caused massive gaps in the roster, leading to the need to fill with constant fresh faces, which no one knows.

Yeah, it's definitely gotten bigger! But seriously, check out ONE Championship if you have any interest in MMA, the events are always a blast and the production value on the Prime Video events rival, if not beat, the UFC.

He promotes the absolute scummiest of fighters, regularly bashs contracted talent in press conferences, and has oversaturated the market so fucking much theres a fight like every other weekend.

I watched casually a decade ago, I found the time between submissions and ko's to be boring. I can understand someone who understands what's going on, like what hold one guy is trying to go for and such enjoying it, but it wasn't for me
