Radahn? A lot of people saying that it shouldve been Godwyn. Godwyn having Mohgs body would also be more appropriate since theyre blood brothers. I think it wouldve been more interesting to have a Godwyn fight, but Radahn is still so fucking cool, especially his intro where he shakes the arena just to gravitate his weapons to him.

Hated it. Really deflated my already mixed feelings of the DLC. I just hate everything about Radahn. Design is dumb, boring gimmick fight in the base game, annoying to fight yet still not difficult in the DLC

Anything else would have been better

Mid about it. Its actually fine and I never expected Godwyn since his soul is destroyed. What disappointed me was I was expecting more of a 1 on 1 with an empowered Miquella. They bother to really hype him up with all the crosses and discarding his flesh only to appear pretty much as he was and to keel over with his consort.

He feels like he was from a different DLC. He kinda just spawned in. I think he could have been cool as a bonus boss like Lawrence or Sir Alonne, but there are several bosses that would have been more fitting as a finale.

I liked the idea of fighting Radahn in his prime, or at least a lot closer to it than his rotted version. After fighting him though, I absolutely hated it. Or more specifically I hate Miquella since hes the one that makes the fight unbearable.

I think it's a lame twist. Miquella should've been the focus of the fight.

Mid.

I feel like they tried to do what they did with Soul of Cinder/Slave Knight Gael from Dark Souls 3 but it fell flat largely because of the misdirects with Godwyn and the fact that fans were wanting/expecting a Godwyn boss fight in the DLC. It does explain why Miquella ordered Malenia to go after Radahn and that was sufficient for some but not for me personally. To me, Renalla's kids and their stories felt separate from Marika's kids with Godfrey and Radagon and if there was going to be more to do with Radahn, it would've been better tied to Ranni and/or Rykard in my opinion.

What would've been cool is that considering Godwyn was effectively dead in body (due to becoming the Prince of Death) and very, very dead in soul... it would've been nice for Miquella to use Mohg's body and Radahn's soul for the Godwyn resurrection. You'd have Godwyn, First Born of Godfrey and Godwyn, the Prince of Death as two separate entities so as to not conflict with Fia's questline.

And having Godwyn play a more prolific role in the DLC would've added more incentive to tie him closer to Marika and her intentions. Was Marika responsible for Godwyn's death? Was his death what pushed her to shatter the Elden Ring?

Like all Elden Ring story content, my expectations shoot up to 11 with the "story trailers" and not only is content from those juicy story trailers cut from release... but I'm almost always disappointed with what little is delivered. The Shaman Village stuff with Marika was cool, don't get me wrong... but I wanted a lot more.

I was super hyped at first, because I thought Miquella was gonna pull a Dr. Wily and make you refight all the mega Marikas, but instead it was just some bullshit Radahn fight.

Pretty mid ngl

i think its mostly just narratively boring

godwyn, eh. i guess. unlike many, i could reasonably see fighting him even though he's dead. deff cant see it going the same way tho, since his soul doesnt even exist to place in a body

i think radahns design is boring, the OST is boring, and the fight is boring. i dont have thoughts on what it should have been, it just feels a bit half baked to me

yea saying the fight isnt difficult is wild. maybe he uses a greatshield poke build with a summon tho, in which case i could see finding it easy since radahn has no answer to it

deflecting hardtear as well

but i dont really think that just because a boss can be trivialized makes it easy

Should've been Godwyn; it being Radahn was pretty disappointing.

The fight itself is also the worst designed fight in any game I've ever played. Pure garbage.

The light pillars on phase 2 are annoying but otherwise it's a fun fight and I enjoy it a lot

Lorewise it makes sense because Radahn was literally the plan B in every aspect - godwyn being super dead as a result of the black knives ruled him out as an element and threw miquella's whole plan into disarray, and that kinda shows.

If I have any complaints it's that the end is kind of...lackluster? After all the buildup? But that's a recurring thing with fromsoft dlc and they do a better job here than previously (compare ds3 with the "here you're fighting it out with an old man at the burnt out slag heap at the end of time over nothing for no actual reason")

Like you punch out Radahn and it's just "okay miquella wanted to be a god to make the world gentler", something we had known from like two sites of grace in. No explanation of the realm of shadow, nor the gate of divinity, basically nothing on the shaman village besides "Marika lived here before she became a god somehow, also freak stuff with jars"

There's literally no reason that they couldn't have just brought Godwyn back anyway. They could've written it as having Miquella find a solution in the Land of Shadows, but... we got something completely out of left field instead and had no hints towards outside of the DLC itself.

We had *a* hint, sort of, in the form of the original story trailer for the main game, in that malenia did say something before letting rip the rot nuke vs Radahn, but it didn't need a whole dlc to explain

With Gael, it was poignant because of your shared mutual goals of finding the dark soul as ink for Priscilla's daughter to make a new painted world since both the outside world (Lordran/Lothric) and the painted worlds were reaching EoL. But amassing the collected pieces of the dark soul, humanity's raw form naturally corrupted Gael as it did Manus, and so you had to kill him to extract his blood to rebuild the world.

What's good about fighting Miquella is that you have this naive child who thinks he can do what his mum can but better only to watch him mimic and mirror the same depravity Marika caused without him realizing it. But it should've either just been about fighting him or if you really wanted to do the whole weird consort thing, use a character players have been eager to see for a long time, Godwyn. Just like how they finally used Gwyn's First Born Son for the epic Nameless King fight/story.

They could've definitely contrived a way to do it. Something unique with the Land of Shadow that wasn't in the Lands Between that could resurrect Godwyn. Miquella couldn't do it with whatever he tried in Castle Sol but maybe with the soul of a demigod as powerful as Radahn and a body of another like Mohg who was directly related to Godwyn plus whatever power exists in the Gate of Divinity could've made it possible to undo Destined Death and bring back Godwyn in his prime.

To go a step further and because I don't like that this DLC feels disjointed with the rest of the game's story and endings, I'd have it be like Bloodborne's ending where you can choose whether or not to fight Miquella. Choosing not to leads to an ending where you become his consort, recognizing your exploits as the Tarnished who waged war, defeated the demigods, and brandished the Elden Ring and eventually condemning you to Godfrey's fate where you're inevitably cast out or you live to see Miquella slowly become more like Marika.

gideon did a lil genocide to find out more about miquella and we literally find and kill the kid, and we cant say shit

melina is so underutilized in the game its actually crazy

Yeah, the Melina thing sucks. How cool would it have been to get some kind of interaction from her in the Shaman village or in the end if she was kept alive in the base game? How cool would it have been if after defeating Midra and assuming you inherited the Flame of Frenzy from the Three Fingers, it opened a temporal map back to the Lands Between where you'd get to fight Melina as the boss and gloam-eyed queen.

I agree.

I LOVE the DLC, but they really dropped the ball by not adding a new ending, making Radahn the final boss, and worst of all, not even adding a single nod towards the DLC in the base game. DS1 adds an alternate Sif boss battle opening for doing the DLC, DS2 adds a new "ending" for doing the DLC areas, Bloodborne adds a new line or two for the Doll, DS3 has a new bit with Yuria acknowledging you meeting her sister, etc. They totally fumbled in this department.
