It may have been retconed later, but in his original origin in the 60s, I think he purposely put the mask on while it was still red hot from being forged. And yes, it burned into his face. I think he can take it off, but the audience never sees it.

In the comics, yes. But if you haven't been paying attention, most actors don't like keeping their faces covered.
Most of the characters from the mcu keep their masks on 99% of the time in the comics.

The MCU has been like, uber notorious for having people take on and off their masks in all the movies and they just brought back Downey... no way in fuck is that mask staying on the whole time.

Y'all know they always take their masks off because it's much easier to emote and, you, know act when your face isn't covered right? The MCU did not invent this. It's probably got more mask screen time in general than the vast majority of other superhero movies.

Anyway, I think RDJ would be totally cool with not showing his face. He's already made his billions and not showing his face is Doom's whole shtick. I think Marvel wants to make sure they nail this character.

I do think it will be a varient, where Iron Men becomes Doom. I think the logic is "good man in metal suit" now "bad man in metal suit". MCU Stark does somewhat fit into a Dooms role.

Doom's taken off his mask before.

Also, you don't get RDJ and pay him all that money only for him to never show his face.

I'm just someone to keep an open mind about it. If it sucks, it sucks, and it's hard to get a third chance from an audience.

I also think it's entirely possible that Downey just plays two characters in Secret Wars to show off his range (with Iron Man also appearing).

He can take it off. He just doesn't like to. I wanna say Conan the barbarian convinced him to take it off by saying it was bad to invited someone over to meet and have dinner over the meeting and wear a mask.

It depends on the writer.
Some times the mask is fused to his face, some times he can take it off.
Some times it is a scar on his left chin, some times he is so ugly so people go crazy if they see it.
That said, his face has been restored multiple times, mostly by magic.

Compared to RDJ, how much does Pedro Pascal get paid to act with his mask on most of the time?

Anyways, maybe they can pull a Darth Vader-like villain with RDJ? Not saying it's a good idea, but could it happen (and be good)?

Doom has taken his mask off tons of times. Almost always with his back to the "camera," and left what's under it to be a mystery to the reader. Notably, I think, he's taken it off for T'Challa and Conan, just off the top of my head.

There are a couple other instances. But it's definitely not an everyday thing.

This isn't really accurate. Masks/helmets off is a very well known movie/television phenomenon that has more to do with the actors/actresses comfort than it does their "acting ability". Moreover, actors/actresses often prefer going masks off for the simple reason that they get more face time, since that is a huge element in getting noticed and hired for future acting roles.

For studios they are more about name recognition than they are face recognition though.

I don't think this was a good choice and would have preferred if they went the small country dictator anti-villain into villain route for Dr. Doom. And I would have preferred someone 30-50 and not 59 like RDJ.
