2nd amendment, especially assault rifles? Not just technology that identifies the owner so that their kids won't get a hold of guns and just fire whenever they wanted to but like how guns can use computers & optics to detect kids from being shot, hell maybe even smarter bullets if they have smart missiles and such. Let's say this was mass produced and distributed in exchange for older mechanical guns. What would you say about that? Still dangerous though. If we do, I'd say we'd have to have smart technology that guarantees safety on all possible weapons. --- Using Supervised Learning to predict financial/gambling markets with 100% certainty based on retraining past labeled data should be humbling ... So basically you want a gun that decides for the user who the person holding it is allowed to shoot? I mean, there are science fiction stories with those, usually though in those stories the government can just override your guns AI and prevent it from being used against whatever they want (like the stories where every car has a kill switch the police can activate). Theoretically speaking though, if AI has become advanced enough to accurately identify targets to the extent you are allowing the AI to make life and death decisions on your behalf (this goes both ways, your own safety as well, such as your gun not firing because the armed mugger robbing you happens to be short and your gun won't fire because it thinks its a kid, it needs to be accurate enough to never make these kind of mistakes), you might as well just let the AI do the shooting for you. --- YOU COULDN'T AFFORD IT! ... Also it'll come back to that part about how guns are useless because they are used for shooting people and your not allowed to do that. If we're changing constitutions let's start with how the president is an above the law dictator. That should probably get buttoned up a little better. --- He who stumbles around in darkness with a stick is blind. This sounds a lot like the plot to MGS4. I don't know the solution to the gun problem in the US. Licensing and registration of all firearms feels like a sensible starting point, but that doesn't address the cultural mindset of tens of millions of Americans that ties their identity with their gun fantasies. In the meanwhile, I'm just glad I don't live there. --- http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XiCtAUrZbUk -- Defeating the Running Man of Ocarina of Time in a race since 01/17/2009. -- ...
