After all the wrongful deaths weve witnessed on camera in the last few years, why do we still have people recording and standing in the background egging on the police? Fueling them with metaphorical ammo by insulting them, threatening to call their supervisor, or filing a lawsuit, when the immediate concern at hand is whether your friend, significant other, or family member is going to survive this encounter? Especially if the person being arrested is a person of color.

I get being outraged in the moment and trying to assert yourself in front of the police when their actions might be unjustified, but for the love of fuck, do that after this person is in jail or on trial. Not when tensions are high and blood thirsty police officers are willing to pull the trigger at any given moment.

Calm your person down, dont enrage them more as well as the police. I cant stand seeing this shit where bystanders are literally putting the arrestee at risk of literal death. Police officers have murdered in cold blood on camera, it does nothing to help the situation.

How many times have you seen your scenario play out?

I am no fan of cops, but I don't really understand those auditor videos. Where people purposely bait cops to mess with them. Like when filming a traffic stop (that isn't your own) and then having the cop come over and talk to you when they notice

There are tons of body cam videos/series where this kind of stuff happens all the time.

When did I say I've seen this scenario and the cops kill the person under arrest? Because I didn't. I asked why bystanders antagonize cops while they arrest someone. I'm sorry but calling cops "stupid ass bitch" or "fucking pig" while they have your boyfriend handcuffed is quite possibly the dumbest thing you can do in that moment. It escalates the situation. No matter how wrong the cops may be, keep your mouth shut or try to calm down the person under arrest. Those should be your only concerns at that exact moment.

Well since it never happens, your concern for it happening is overblown.

The point is that bystanders egging on a cop who is arresting someone is a likely way for things too escalate, in a way that can make things worse for both the person getting arrested and the person yelling at the cop. It's understandable if someone is frustrated, confused or disagrees, but screaming, swearing and threatening a cop is always a bad idea.
