I'll preface by saying if I'm dining in I usually tip between 25-30% regularly and also if its a large pickup order, like Chinese food on Christmas Day for the family I'll tip usually $30-$50 on top of the order cost.

Curious on everyone's thoughts on this for regular pickup orders though for just 1-2 people.

What are you even tipping for?

This isn't even rewarding service, it's just paying more for stuff because . . . I dunno, people seem to have convinced themselves that food is different from other purchases.

If im a regular in the place, I always tip at least 15%

they always take care of us well and I want the place to stay staffed and in business since a lot of the crews income come from tips

I personally don't tip on pickup anymore unless its a large order like I said for a Holiday, or if I ordered a bunch of extras or made a complicated order that's a pain in the ass to bag up

Otherwise I just won't tip for regular pickups, I agree tipping culture as kinda gotten out of hand.

My local Vietnamese spot used to be like 8 bucks for a very good banh mi sammich, now its closer to 15 so I'm definitely not giving any extra cash on that.

I bartend and serve tables for a living. I have worked the Pick up person shift at my spots. I dont expect to be tipped while working that position. Is it nice if someone does? Sure. But I do not expect it at all. I look at that day as a hourly paid position only.

Pick up? No tip. It's just the extended version of going into mcdonalds and ordering food. You don't tip the cashier so why would I do it here?

The only exception I have to this is major major holidays. Christmas, Thanksgiving etc etc... those days I will leave something out of holiday cheer.

Never, I tip for table service, not to grab shit and go. That's like tipping at the drive thru window, nobody does that.

This is why tipping culture is bad. It keeps spilling over to everything else. What next, we should be tipping fast-food workers?

Thats only for if you have a larger party and dine in that they will automatically add a tip. Thats not for food pick up.

For the most part I do not tip on pick-up orders, however if it's a mom and pop shop that I go regularly, I would tip 1-3 bucks a visit

This I understand, I have a local Korean restaurant that only has one location and does the best Korean Wings I've had in my state and always the same little lady checking me out and I'll toss her an extra $4-$5 each time, but for chains and places like that I won't tip, but I also get looks when I dont tip either

Depends on the place. If it's a big chain no. If it's a smaller mom and pop shop sure I'll throw a few extra bucks.

At mom and pop places where they have their kid working (handing the food over) I usually give the kid like 2-3 bucks but that's about it.

I use to at the Chinese place. Since I go their over and over and Chinese places seem to have the same person working there no matter when I come. Like a freaking Skyrim Shop I tip, just since we will be over that interaction over and over. But no many places else. Like why tip the person at Starbucks but not McDonalds .

Fair point. If I was ordering coffee for 5-10 people, I'd probably tip them an extra 5-10 bucks for having to make a large order, but myself I only get a iced coffee with no extra addins so I can't justify tipping for that.
