The only thing that should disqualify him is shit hes said and done in the present.

Many people do evolve in their stances after 30 years. Some get worse, some flip entirely, while some have a less harsh stance on a position. My point is, a stance 30+ years ago shouldn't be a smoking gun gotcha on someone in the present.

That was an unacceptable statement from the president of Penn, Shapiro said, referring to Magills unwillingness to accept Stefaniks slippery framing on what constitutes antisemitism. Frankly, I thought her comments were absolutely shameful. It should not be hard to condemn genocide. In April, Shapiros office baselessly claimed that a peaceful pro-Palestine encampment on the Penn campus threatened student safety. If the universities in accordance with their policies cant guarantee the safety and security and well-being of the students, then I think it is incumbent upon a local mayor or local governor or local town councilor, whoever is the local leadership there, to step in and enforce the law, Shapiro told Politico at the time. In May, he urged Penn to shut down the encampment completely. The University of Pennsylvania has an obligation to their safety, he said, once again alluding to nonexistent threats to the physical well-being of Jewish students. It is past time for the university to act, to address this, to disband the encampment, and to restore order and safety on campus. The university complied; one day and 33 arrests later, Shapiros office said Penn made the right decision.

It's sad and scary that antisemitism is becoming so virulently popular among the American left again, but the fact is that Shapiro's support for shutting down the college protesters was completely unacceptable. The whole thing was just typical establishment hippie-punching where police (and outside vigilantes) were openly encouraged to go around beating the shit out of college students who were being completely peaceful. Shapiro compared the protesters to the KKK which is just bizarre. He's also supported everything Israel has ever done, unlike say Bernie Sanders who supports Israel's right to exist (unlike a lot of liberals) but is very critical of their military actions.

I stand by my earlier call that if Shapiro gets picked, every political discussion from now until November will be completely dominated by foreign tankies and white supremacists who can easily post "but Genocide Josh" and derail every conversation instantly.
