Actually...an object that is 17 billion times the size of the sun would just form to be a super massive black hole. We, along with most of the solar system would get gobbled up by it. The interesting thing is that it's big enough to not have the effects of spaghettification so who knows what will happen when the Earth goes into it.

Is this on the flat Earth model?
Oh true. Hmm, if it's flat earth then gravity is created by the plate flying upwards in "space". The meteor that is 17 times the size of the sun which I'm going to assume produces a rock about Idaho size would crush Idaho and momentarily stop the plate. We'd have less gravity for a few days while we waited for the earth to get back up to speed but the meteor does no further widespread damage since the Plate us obviously indestructible.

I think it'd punch right through Idaho and create a Idaho-shaped hole in the flat earth.

If it's taking up, like, 6% of the entire solar system, would everything (including our sun) end up just getting pulled into its gravitational orbit instead of actually colliding with it?

Hell, if it's moving, would it have every celestial body from every other solar system it's passed through also still in its orbit? Just rolling on through the Universe collecting solar systems like a colossal Space Katamari Demacy?

Yeah, that was my thought. At what point is it more that we're crashing into it than it crashing into us? Even if it was set to move at a ntobale speed in one direction (in this case, at Earth) wouldn't Earth just get caught in the gravitational pull?

Given the size, Earth may not rotate out the way but still

Nope. If you were just looking at the solar system as a 2D plane, you could fit more than 42 million suns on it. I had a similar thought to yours and had to go look that shit up out of sheer curiosity.

I did have to google this to be sure... ya 17 billion would still definitely fuck us in this fantasy world TC is living in.
