vet has no idea what is causing it. Says declawing the cat might be the only option as hes in pain but Im 100% against declawing cats.

yeah I know but Im more concerned multiple vets dont know what it is. Its not ingrowing. They cut them back every week or so at the moment and they just grow like that or almost split instantly. Weirdly his brother had a tooth issue where they break really easily (hes only
got one of his front chompers left) so maybe some weird genetic issue with them not.

Mixture really of wet and dry food. Wet in the morning and dry in the evening.

Why do you ask?

Poor kitty. Hopefully you figure it out, even if it means declawing.

That happened to one of my cats when she was spending a lot of time in our basement. It has concrete floors down there and with all the running she was doing down there, I think it destroyed her claws. After closing the basement door, her claws have healed and are back to normal.

She never showed any signs of pain or discomfort, though.

If the cat does not seem to be showing signs of pain, don't get them declawed. Paws never fully recover from that surgery.

It's been discussed before, but declawing can be necessary if it's for health reasons. Same as if you were to get an infection on your toes and amputation was the only option. Declawing is really a bad thing if you're only doing it for selfish reasons.

I can speak first-hand that you do not want to refrain from doing what's best for your cat because you don't like it. My first cat suffered longer than he needed to because I wasn't ready to let him go when his kidneys were failing. I thought he could have been saved, but I just ended up delaying the inevitable and it's been a decision I've been beating myself up over for almost 12 years.

This, declawing isn't cruel if the vet deems it necessary. I once had a cat who had to get most of her teeth pulled because of a genetic disorder.

Gingivostomatitis? We had to do the same thing for a cat that had that. It improved her quality of life dramatically

Well it's probably not related to your cats claw malformation but depending on what you feed your cat can have a tremendous impact on overall health. Cats are true carnivores.
Hope can figure out what's going on

Hmmmm this is a good point. We do have three cats using the same tray. We try and empty it every day but we both work long hours so sometimes it can be two days between cleans. Ill refer this info to the vets and see what they say.

3 cats? Then you should try having 3 trays, or even 4 according to some information I've seen.

Yeah, I only have 2 boys and 2 trays, but one barely gets used anymore, and even when they were using both, I had to clean them out on a daily basis. The only times where I didn't clean on a day was because I was too tired/depressed to do it, but it's something I do during my night time routine.
