This is a weird response but if you looked at the data climate change deniers probably correlate more with religious folks, whereas atheists would believe the science of climate change

You would do your kid a disservice if you only tell them about one god.

Aren't you just supposed to ask them what they think?

Or just say that some people choose to believe in a god 'cause it gives 'em courage or support or whatever.

To be fair, God thought people could build a tower and get to heaven, so sounds like your son has the same concept of heaven as God.

I'd probably change the subject. Your kid is 3. Unless you have someone or something around your kid shoving "God" down their throat, or reminding them, I doubt they will stay focused on wanting to know.

I told him God was an explanation for how really big things got made and some people have other explanations for that. I used a fun little scale about how he built his block tower and builders built our house and a bunch of people built the town but some people believe God made the ground we walk on.

If that's a good answer I have no fucking idea.

Just explain that god was a creation of man to help control the masses by giving them hope that there's a reason to live and something to work forward to for after life.

Ask them what they think God is.

Feel like people rushing to tell a child that God "Isn't real", might be... I struggle to find the word, but it's rather hasty.

It should be up to the individual to decide to believe or to not believe. Trying to forcing non-believe is little different than trying to force belief.

Though admittedly I'm not sure how to explain the concept of God to a child without having any of my own opinion into it. I believe He is real, so of course I'm going to speak less in hypothetical.

I guess just say that God is a higher being that many people argue over whatever He is real or not. That it is said He is the creator of everything.

And if your child asks if that's true? That's up to them to decide.

Now tell him that when he sees a plane, it's taking dead people to Heaven.

Tell them what you believe. Let them know there's a chance you're wrong. Answer follow-up questions. Let the conversation move on when there are none.

When they inevitably ask about the Bible or Noah or anything else Biblical, tell them they [the child] have just as much proof for what they think. Then chuck a Bible in the trash for effect.

Tell them god is real, and they are angry they arent eating their vegetables!

Just be sure to wrap it up before then where do we go when we die.

Tell him God is the same like Santa and the Toothfairy in the same way most people do with these make believe characters. Just blah blah god is good blah blah. He's just 3 years old. Don't break his world so soon. Once he's older you can give him the big news if he wants to know. If you want to go further, tell him God is watching just like Santa, and if he doesn't do what he is told, he will get lightning in his face.

Not being religious myself I always just have to hold my tongue and play along whenever my nephew is around. Hes 6 and being raised in church. Hes always asking why I dont go and Im like uhhhhhhhhhh

No, it's actually quite valid to teach children facts instead of things that are baseless superstition at best and wilful disinformation (often used to justify hateful ideologies) at worst.

Just tell them the truth.

This. Explain to them there are many religions and how people worship many gods/goddesses, and yes, explain to them that none have been proven to be real.

God works in mysterious ways.

If the kid is really smart and can see past the lies, I'd say just tell them the truth. Some kids are good at seeing the lies adults tell. Unless it has to do with sex, I'd just make something up if they ask about that :D.
