I have an important choice to make in the next couple days. The consequences of which could alter the entire course of my life. Who do I choose? And yes I am leaving fate up to strangers on the internet. Its an important choice, but I simply cant make this decision alone.

I honestly view Dias as one of the few downsides to picking Rena, he just irritates me more. If you're going to give me someone annoyingly arrogant they can at least be small with cat ears, it's more fun that way.

My planned party is Claude, Rena, Opera, Ernest, Precis, Welch, Leon/Dias, and I guess Celine? Im not sure if I want her or Chisato. But Chisato comes really late and Celine is obtained at the beginning.

I usually go Claude, Rena, Celine, Ashton, Precis, Leon/Dias, Noel, and Chisato.

I've never seen Welch because she's not in the PS1 version.

Yeah Im playing the remake that came out last year. I like the way this game looks. I went with Rena. I rerolled her talents to get Nimble Fingers and I turned her into a pickpocket :D

I like this version a lot

I beat Star Ocean 2 R! Tomorrow Ill start on post game stuff!

I finished the Maze of Tribulations. Got some stuff to finish up then going to do a NG+ run. Im curious for anyone thats played it, hows The Divine Force? Im in the mood for more Star Ocean. Ive played 1,3 and some of 4 previously.

I had the itch to play more Star Ocean. I busted out the PS2 and found my old copy of Till the End of Time. Havent played it in like 16 years. My goodness, the bonus gauge is one of the worst leveling mechanics Ive ever seen. First of all you have to build the gauge up which can take a long time because only enemies close to your level will build it up. Then you have to hold the bonus for up to 15 battles to get triple exp. Then it still takes multiple DOZENS of battles to get a single level. And if at any time you take a critical hit. Even for 0 damage the gauge breaks and you have to start over. Seriously WTF were they thinking with this system? I have almost 600 battles and Im only like level 25. And I remember very well that theres a HUGE difficulty spike in disc 2 and its best to try to get a high level before that. The exp balancing is all sorts of fucked up in this one.

Oh also Item Creation/Inventing sucks in this one. It isnt explained at all and it requires a guide to get through it, and even then its possible to completely fuck it up and waste a ton of money. And its arguably more important in this one than in 1 or 2 because the weapons you can get from it are more or less required in disc 2.

Claude - even in my Rena side playthroughs, I switch to controlling Claude when I have the chance

I got to Disc 2. Just arbitrarily all of a sudden enemies give thousands of exp without the bonus gauge. Okay. The moment I get back to Elicoor Im recruiting Ansala and making a bunch of Orichalcums with a bunch of ATK +500 lines and smashing them into weapons and hope thats enough to survive the endgame enemies. I already made the Philosophers Stone to recruit him.

Im kinda feeling playing some Tales after Im done with Star Ocean. I think Im gonna play 2 R again after Im done with SO3. But after that I kinda want to play some Tales. Im debating between playing Xillia or Symphonia. Or maybe picking up one Ive never played before like Vesperia or Berseria.

i have the spiciest take of all: skip xillia 1 and go straight to 2

though if you do decide on Symphonia, do NOT play the remaster version, play either the original steam release (plus Kaldaien's ToS fix) or the gamecube version. the game lost a LOT as it got ported around and the remaster was a dumpster fire. gamecube's the only version that can run at 60fps because every other version since the ps2 breaks if you try

most every tales game on steam has some sort of fix for port issues, but symphonia's is incredibly noticeable

Yeah I have ToS on GameCube. I played and beat Xillia when it released in the US. I remember literally nothing about it lol

Im kind of glad I stuck with Star Ocean 3 instead of dropping it for another game. Im currently in the final dungeon, Ill finish it tomorrow and start on postgame stuff. But theres still a lot of problems with this game, namely that the balance is all over the fucking place. The enemies finally feel like they give appropriate experience without triple exp bonus. I made a bunch of laser weapons with a bunch of ATK +500 lines. And I feel like Im overpowered. But before I did that, it felt like I was severely underpowered. And the game didnt explain to me how to make better weapons. I had to look up a guide. Oh well. At least the arena in Gemity is a lot of fun, and I hear the postgame is actually decent.

I did it, I beat Star Ocean 3. :0 Ive never done that before. And despite my issues with it, I actually dont hate this game, I just wish it was better.

I beat the Mosel Ruins Underground, Surferio Ruins and Maze of Tribulations. Did floors 101-111 of Sphere 211. The postgame is fun!

Never did the postgame for SO3 which is a shame because it's my favorite, I think I was just burnt out at the time (and never really did postgame grinds in most games at that point anyway)

I kinda had an interest in replaying the game via a speedrun optimized route a while back but that never panned out. Only made it past the first dungeon

Yeah Im enjoying the postgame a lot. But Sphere 211 is maybe too long and repetitive for its own good. Im following A L E Xs guide to get all the stat increase berries and what not and if I wasnt doing that it would be going faster. Anyway, Im on floor 172 so I am making good progress. Level 180. Gonna see about getting to floor 200 tomorrow, then the really challenging fights begin I hear.

Finished Sphere 211! Grinded Fayt, Cliff and Maria to 255. Beat the secret dungeon in the Ursa Caverns. I cannot beat the final secret boss Freya. I barely survive about 30 seconds with Angel Feathers on everyone. WTF ;-;
