Every ad I get is for Trump. I get pro-Trump/anti-Harris stuff in the fucking mail.

The really crazy part is a lot of it focuses on the fucking border of all things. I don't know how many people know where Michigan is (since a lot of maps exclude us), but we're not actually that close to the border. I'm pretty sure people aren't hopping the fence just to make a mad dash into Michigan. Even if you're racist enough to think they're all criminals, why the fuck would they come here and skip all the major cities on the way?

Although interestingly from my experience, a lot of the maga-leaning fence sitters in Michigan are more pissed about the trans rights issue.

Even my own dad who was historically staunchly Democrat mulled over "voting for anyone but Biden" because he genuinely believes he should have the right to tell people what their pronouns are and the other way around is oppressive to him. The dude is just a mask off bigot though.

Definitely don't underestimate the GOP in this system. They may be broke and fractured, but they will still go down fighting.

Republicans crafted a strong border bill that gave them almost everything they wanted, and Trump himself had it killed so he could campaign on "open borders." He personally blocked the solution so he could benefit from the problem.

I think you should contact them and say you agree that the border is an issue and they need to do something about the syrup drinkers who come from up north. Bet they'll ignore you after that.

They can push all they want, but if Fieldmarshal Fulldiaper's only gonna show up in Howell, he's not talking to the people that made him lose Michigan in 2020.

We got those same folks trying to complain about immigration up here in WV, as if we're not profiting like fiends off of them. Those fellas put an extra 40k in my bank account last year.

It's been the GOP's strategy for years.

They drive up the deficit under Republican presidents, then the moment a Democrat becomes president, they start bitching about the deficit.

It's just crazy that Trump and his asskissers in Congress did this so blatantly and he's not getting called out on more for it.

Yeah. The truth is, there are places in the US that are underdeveloped when compared to developing countries. Some rural communities are very poorly developed and some cities resemble shelled-out husks. We focus so much on federal government but the truth is, most of our local and state governments are wholly incompetent when it comes to actually improving quality of life.

My hope is that, at some point in the next 10-20 years, we have a nationwide effort where people actually sit down and discuss, "What can we do to improve the various aspects of everyday American life?"

They heard there was a Mexican town and got real scared. If I'm to believe certain parts of the Internet, there's Latin Kings and Latin Counts around there though.

Haha, they just spent a bunch of their own money to build a second bridge from Canada to Detroit. Which I'm fine with because that's cutting into the scum fuck Moroun Family's money. And it only happened because Matty Moroun died 4 years ago.

I feel the same way about the border as a person in PA. I do not live near it, so I do not care.

I mean there are gangs and gang activity in all major cities, and I'm sure Detroit is no exception.

As to border security? Yes, we do have an issue with migrants, but the truth is...most people who will commit a crime against you are probably your fellow Americans

Southwest Detroit actually has a very large Latino population.

Also, Detroit had been going through a revitalization for the past decade.

They obviously don't want Canadians coming over the border and fucking up Lansing.
