There really needs to be something done about Boeing's leadership.

Boeing needs to get shut down at this point.

Oh shit my ex-wife's uncle does maintenance for Delta in Atlanta, but I think he mainly does smaller parts in an office.

Note that the 757 hasn't been produced since like 2004, so let's not jump the gun here. It's a plane from the 80's.
This isn't in the same ballpark of their recent issues.

How many Ls can one company have in 3 months? My god.

-the doors blowing off planes
-killing 2 or 3 whistleblowers
-all the shit the whistleblowers exposed
-stranding the astronauts
-exploding tire kills 2 people

I mean at this point we should just shut them down. What else has been going on that we DONT know about?

I'd maybe buy that for parts that are buried in the fuselage and hard to get to/replace.

This is a goddamn tire.

The last Boeing 757 rolled off the line in 2004. This is not Boeing's fault.

No but they regularly inspect their aircrafts to ensure shit like that doesn't happen. Or at least they are supposed to.

He's safe wasn't even in the hanger where the tire exploded.

It's okay. These people died for the red line and that's honorable.

This seems like it would be the responsibility of the airline and/or whoever was contracted to carry out maintenance.

I feel like any Boeing story is just going to be a BaaderMeinhof thing at this point. Like when a lot news stories about train derailments gained attention after the one in Ohio last year, but it was the same frequency of derailments as usual.

Reminded me that many-many years ago (mid 90s) my supervisor at my first job was driving down the highway and a truck tire exploded next to them and it literally beat the side of the car off.

I mean I know it's not the same as one exploding next to someone standing around.

But they'll do some damage.

Aren't those tires filled to like 250psi? Regular car tires are like 30psi

200 seems to be the standard according to the wiki, and they're roughly 4-5 feet wide. Even a regular 30-psi car tire can mess you up if you happen to be standing next to it when it explodes.

TY for saying this, Boeing does suck but there have been several mishaps attributed to them that weren't their fault, this being one of them.

If you guys think this is a Boeing problem I hate to burst your bubble but heavy duty truck tires can kill you too when they blow and blowouts happen all the damn time.

Nationalize Boeing. They're vital to the country's continued operation and they clearly can't be trusted to operate on their own.

At this point it feels like "Boeing killed someone? Must be Tuesday."

I have a friend who used to be a big wig at a company that you wouldn't believe me if I told you, who passes on bits of engineering and management advice all the time. He said whenever anything went wrong, they would always blame the subcontractor and he would not put up with it.

I mean, if it comes out that Boeing didn't catch that this was a bad lot of tires or these tires had failed testing but no one identified it at Boeing, sure. But right now, we have no details or even how any of this works

According to a quick google search, Dunlop manufactures the tires for the 757 so maybe we should crucify them instead.

unless these were brand new tires it's either going to be on the airline for not maintaining them properly, or on one of the employees for overfilling the tire.

The tires weren't even attached to the pane when this occurred. They were at a maintenance facility.

"The injured worker remains under medical care following the accident, which involved wheel components that were being disassembled for maintenance and were not attached to an airplane, Delta said."
