So hes trying to talk to me about Pikachu, and Im on the phone with Donald Trump, and Im like, Son, shut the hell up for 30 seconds about Pikachu,' he continued. This is the most important phone call of my life. Please just let me take this phone call.' Vance added that because his son doesnt get what the President of the United States means, he didnt care that Trump was on the phone. Like IDK I've just never been able to muster any outrage about this story. She lost because she ran a horrifically bad campaign, completely ignored key swing states, spent her time courting celebrity endorsements nobody cared about, ran messaging dripping with entitlement, and did a dogshit job conveying what her policies actually were, or why anybody should want them. She was also the epitome of an East Coast Political Dynasty Establishment Elite, in a year where populism/outsiders were clearly the flavor of the month. The fact that Dems thought "more of the same" was the winning ticket that year was one of the worst reads in political history. Couple that with her longstanding unpopularity on both sides of the aisle, general unlikeability as a person, and the fact that the Right had been dogwalking her and compiling dossiers on how to shit talk her since the 90s, AND the hardcore Russian interference on Trump's behalf... yeah, it was a shitshow, all around. People aren't lying when they're saying the Establishment Dems literally precision-selected the ONE candidate who would absolutely lose to Trump that year, and ran with her. The only worse pick would have probably been Pelosi herself.
