The physical/special split in gen 4 means Flareon actually finally gets to make use of its higher Attack stat, and D/P/Pt is infamously starved for noteworthy Fire types. The only cruddy thing about it, now that I look into it, is that I don't think Flare Blitz was made available for it in that gen (despite being the gen Flare Blitz originated). <cite>Philip027 posted [p:981976013] in What shoul... Here's the silly thing about Flareon... It does get to make use of it's good attacking stat... With Fire Fang. That is it's best physical fire move. Calwings 09/03/24 8:09:52 PM #25:	Considering you have all 3 starters (somehow) covering Fire/Water/Grass and Kirlia covering Psychic, plus Glaceon's evolution comes so late in the game that it doesn't really help that much, your only real options for an Eeveelution are Jolteon and Umbreon. The thing is, Jolteon learns no good Special Electric-type moves until Discharge at level 78, so if you want to use it, you basically need to give it the TM for Thunderbolt. That would either rob your team of a great coverage move that Gardevoir or Drifblim could take advantage of or would require spending a ton of money or time at the Game Corner to get a second TM. For that reason, I think you'd be better off either going with Umbreon or just not using an Eeveelution at all. Magnezone would be a better Electric-type than Jolteon since it learns Discharge at level 40, while Drapion or Weavile would be a better Dark-type than Umbreon. --- https://i.imgur.com/PmF1p9q.jpg <cite>Calwings posted [p:981979928] in What shoul... Thunderbolt you can get more copies of from the Game Corner (for 200,000 pokedollars if you just want to buy the coins and don't want to gamble) but Shadow Ball you can't get another TM for until the Battle Frontier in the post-game.
