What are your wants and needs? If you just want something that gets you from point A to B generally just get the cheapest option. If you want or need stuff in the upper options and can afford it, generally get those.

Living half a mile up a steep (20+% in one spot) dirt road, I wanted something with AWD and some ground clearance to handle snow/mud/ice. Came down to CR-V, Rav4, or a couple Subarus, but the CR-V generally seemed to be preferred by reviewers so here we are. Kinda want a hybrid, but I tend to only drive like 5k miles a year or less so I think it would take me a long time to break even on that. Dunno if I'm supposed to care about leather/cloth seats, I've never paid the slightest attention to car seats in general. Wish I knew more about Honda Sensing stuff to know whether it matters to me or not.

I'd avoid subaru tbh. everyone I know who owns one made after 2010ish has had nothing but trouble w/ them.

a family member owns a rav4 hybrid and it's a really solid car imo, toyota's don't have tons of bells and whistles but they always make solid cars.
CR-V is also one of the "you can't go wrong buying this" vehicles out there.

I have a Sport L hybrid.

As someone who had a Sport Touring Civic, I don't actually miss the slightly different HUD. I forgot what the Sport Touring CR-V has exactly, but I don't feel like there's anything really lacking. The immediate UI features like wireless charging and AA are still there.

In this class I had a Mazda CX-5 Turbo previously. The CR-V hybrid is definitely more...dead driving experience, but a more refined box for everyday city utility. I'd say with the general way cars have moved to smaller 4 cylinders, it's almost wimpy. Even the non-turbo CX-5 I had, has more life. Mileage averaging 32mpg with hills involved.

I do have AWD due to availability at the time, but I would've gone FWD because I'm really not expecting to do anything that warrants AWD and the mileage hit.

Im very with my CR-V. its a 2019 EX-L, which I think was the second highest trim when I got it. My main consideration was the speaker system being better than bare minimum. The highest trim level added stuff I didnt care about but I dont really remember what
