They had a valid reason for being awful though. The owner traded all its good players away to St Louis which was his other team. The White Sox have the highest payroll in the AL Central.

113 losses now. 50.5 games behind 1st place Cleveland.

For comparison sake, the Angels have the second worst record in the AL and they are 17 games in front of the White Sox.

I just looked this up and WOW. While only the 18th highest payroll, it is indeed the highest in the AL Central.

Something tells me they were actually trying somewhat. I know as I referenced earlier, 17M of that payroll is for a guy who isn't doing well this year(Benintendi), but him doing well may get them a couple of wins at most, so he isn't the sole problem with their payroll.

This is fascinating.
