I don't imagine that wildly popular mods like MCCC, Basemental Drugs, or Wicked Whims will be approved. It's likely just going to be poorly reskinned existing clothing options.

That's a real dumb move. Sims 4 just doesn't make a very good base to build a game on.

There was never a Sims 5. They showed footage a while back from a "Project Rene" that they were working on, that people thought was Sims 5, but which is apparently just the multiplayer thing they're talking about here.

I fell so far behind on sims 4 dlc I just gave up. I had a lot of fun playing the seasons and pets expansions at least.

This'll probably be the future of all AAA series. Just one initial release and endless content you have to pay for that barely effects anything.

Rather have a Sims 5 than multiplayer Sims

Project Rene was never confirmed as Sims 5, it's no surprise they won't be starting from scratch with a new Sims game, millions of players are already invested financially in Sims 4 and won't want to fork out hundreds for dlc again - also with Inzoi on the horizon it's doubtful EA could compete given how much that has in base game alone

People bring Inzoi up a lot, but I don't think it's going to be very successful at all, given how absurd its minimum specs are for the genre. The required hardware is a Ryzen 5 3600 and an RTX 2060, which is way too high for a genre where a majority of the playerbase just plays on an old potato laptop.

Wait a minute I just heard there is going to be a sims movie with Margo Robbie in it, BBC world news on hd radio. I will be sure to miss that.

I really wish 3 and 4's console versions were like 2's console version.

I stopped playing them at Sims 3. The third game felt like the pinnacle of series, and when I first heard way back when Sim 4 came out, that it was lacking a lot of content Sim 3 had. I rolled my eyes and knew they would milk as much money outta consumers, by bringing that missing content back through priced DLC. And sure all the Sims games before 4 had a shit ton of expansion packs and DLC, but after Sims 3 I'm not sure where else the series could go that would make it much more fun than that game and it's fan mods.

Maybe a story mode with branching paths would be nice, and other past Sims games lack (except the GameCube game). Multiplayer doesn't sound that interesting to me for a game like The Sims.

So the update to the article says that they were mistaken and the multiplayer will not be a part of The Sims 4. It's still a separate game under "project rene"

Still a dumb move though, if the next sims game is multiplayer only. Seems that EA still hasn't learned that lesson

you think? lol. I wait until December to buy the expansions when they're on sale. So I never buy them then and there.

Or I sometimes pay for it through the paypal 4 payment plan so I don't pay for it all at once. Last year, I paid for a bunch of expansions through that. It wasn't like it was a cheaper option but it made it manageable.

There's only a few I don't have and I don't have a lot of the smaller add-ons either.

but a lot of the major ones, I do have.

Well I get you, but the world is moving forward with technology. I was playing some yesterday and I noticed a lot of new things like gadgets and apps on the phone which is just a parody of twitter. Hell, some dude called me and asked me to go to a restaurant to meet him and I turned him down and I got the confident mood which said "Congratulations on turning him down. You feel confident in turning down a billionaire. Ever since he bought the app, it's been going down hill anyway"

I feel like it was a shot at Elon and I'm living for it lol.
