Billions sent to Ukraine and Israel. People need money to help recover from hurricane Helene, the strikes at the ports. What else needs to happen in order for us to get money? Give us, the stimulus

We're lucky that we're still on the course of a soft landing from the inflationary period, instead of having a recession like most predicted in 2023.

Republicans make sure that kind of action is unviable, unless more of them are voted out.

Just the interest payment alone has reached $1 trillion this year. Imagine instead just giving a million Americans a million dollars each annually. That's just from the interest payment.

We didn't send MONEY to Israel and Ukraine, we spent those billions of dollars on government contracts to Arms manufactures like Raytheon and Lockheed Martin like we do every year, and then we just gave them some missiles and machines and stuff.

It's sort of also like how we spend billions on inefficient biofuels and subsidize some of the corn that's used to make ethanol. Even though it's a complete boondoggle. It's corrosive and it takes tons of diesel to even make not to mention SHIP around. It's made at an energy loss and it sucks on efficiency.

Remember me when the Ethanol people come for my fingers (hahaha jk)

That might be an accurate description of military aid, however we also provide economic aid to Ukraine, and up until very recently Israel as well, which is actually just sending them money.

Regardless we can't even afford the military we're spending on let alone other countries'.

i kind of wonder if people know what our national budget is and how tiny a percentage foreign aid is?

The economy right now is actually good. Wages are up. There's no need for a stimulus. The natural disasters are being handled by FEMA. We also haven't felt the economic effects of the strike at all. Companies had braced for this for a while.

I don't think major inflation is a good policy in the long run

They do not.

Not sure if this is a serious topic, but I'm always disappointed when people on the left use foreign aid spending to indicate domestic inequality. It's an isolationist view and talking point that's use more by the right

I kinda have no issues with Ukraine getting whatever they need right now, given the whole "fascist entity bent on conquering them and erasing their entire culture".

Just so happens that amount of aid is a pretty skimpy drop in the bucket compare to what we usually spend and has no impact on domestic aid!

Is it a tiny percentage of our budget? Yes.

That doesn't change the fact that the trend of just ignoring the national debt is a gaping abyss and the longer we ignore it the harder it is going to get to address it. If the economy is humming along great and inflation is still persistent, that's exactly when deficit reduction should be addressed.

Well, keep electing democrats and it'll eventually be dealt with, because that's the only time anyone gives a fuck about the national debt.
