I am nowhere enough rich enough to be a politician. My only line would be grifting, and I am nowhere near scummy enough to pretend to be a Republican.

I'm not really a fan of having hundreds, thousands, or millions of people tracking what I do on an hourly basis.

While I know I can perform better it is something I would hate so much. I hate politics and every career politician and everything about the entire environment. And I fucking hate wearing anything other than athletic shorts and plain t-shirts. Even just wearing a suit all the time would drive me crazy. Hell no.

I have views that one might call.....extreme. I'll leave it at that.

I'm afraid of public speaking, am anxious in general, have no money to campaign with, have highly progressive values incompatible with the extremely rural and conservative area I live in, etc.. It would be a waste of time for a multitude of reasons.

I think I would like to be involved in the local politics of my city in some way. Town council or some shit

I've considered maybe being an MP in the past (For you Americans it would be the equivalent of a house of representatives seat, except the amount of seats a party gets determines the leader of the country)

But honestly I never really considered myself intelligent enough. And yes I know we live in a world full of idiots like this Cao guy, but I was a dumb jock in HS. I don't need to be a Canadian Herschel Walker or Tommy Tuberville.

Of course not. One deal-breaker (of many) is that I would be unable to hide my contempt for the silly swing voter fools that too often decide elections.

I don't have money and don't like public speaking. Beyond that, I don't have the stomach for the bullshit that goes on that we know and suspect, I don't want to know about the shit that we don't know about. I'd probably end up losing my mind due to the stress and anxiety.

Politicians are chosen based on connections and loyalty. They can be coached on oration if necessary. At no point does being a better candidate by our reckoning come into play.

Also, that's a Republican. About two-thirds of the country could be a better candidate than them solely on the basis of not being a Republican.

Yeah, this is me right here. With an added lack of interest in talking to people for an extended period of time.

Not sure I could pull a Coolidge in 2024.

I look at the US Congress and think "why the fuck would I want any of these derelicts as my co-workers??"

He also got into trouble in the past on statements regarding the Covid vaccine. Statements which leaves me to believe he would not, in fact, help his community out.

Politics is a lot of social interaction, and I have social anxiety. It would be hell for me. It would also be difficult for me to get in, because there is no way someone as far left as me would be getting elected in an extremely conservative area like I live in, so I would have to move. Sure, I'll get whatever left-wing votes there are, and a few right-wing votes from people who don't pay much attention and just hear my last name (not Alverado, I'm talking about my real last name which is an incredibly common Mennonite last name where I live, which is a large percentage of the population), or from people who just like my promise to abolish daylight savings time (as that is something various people on both sides want), but there's no way it would be enough to actually win.

In 8th grade our social studies teacher told the whole class straight up that none of us would ever be wealthy enough to get into politics.

That seems like bad advice. There's tons of local political offices out there that doesn't require you to be independently wealthy
