I'm working as a researcher while doing my PhD. The way it works in Germany is that doing your PhD is a full time job, with a salary to match. Less than what you make in the private sector, but definitely more than enough to live off of. Plus since I'm doing it at a research centre and not a university, I get a bit more than most PhD students

Agreed. Said same thing on previous page. And if you get purgatory you cant come back here. So users are more careful with their topic creation and posts now.

I remember there being a lot of Kevin Sorbo topics. Now they barely happen these days. Probably because his hot takes can get users modded.

I doubt that's a significant reason for users getting modded, otherwise CE would be practically abandoned already considering people share every hot shit take Trump/Musk/Vance/MTG/any other controversial populist right-winger posts.
