Executive Director & Video Game Industry Analyst at Circana (NPD) Mat Psicatella via Bluesky has revealed that fewer than three percent of PlayStation 5 owners in the US own a PlayStation Portal as of the end of July.
"So, let's talk PS Portal... while it has performed above expectations so far, there's still plenty of room for upside," said Piscatella. "At the end of July, fewer than 3% of US PS5 owners had purchased a Portal. Could be an area to watch closely for holiday. Source: Circana Retail Tracking Service."
VGChartz estimates have the PS5 at 21.14 million units sold in the US through the end of July. That would put the PlayStation Portal at a maximum of 634,000 units sold in the US.

Just shows you can perform above expectations if you don't have expectations

Personally for me remote play only doesnt make it worth it for me.

Ill wait until Sony releases that supposed ps4 handheld. If those rumors are true Ill by it in a heartbeat. Although Im kinda doubting its legitimacy due to how late is in the ps4s life cycle

Thats how most people use it. Portal isnt really a device meant for solo users who live alone.

I meankinda? They start at 350 I think, which is almost double. But if youre in the market for a device like these, Id def spend the extra 150 or however much for the model you want, considering the capabilities compared to a dedicated streaming device only, ya know? Emulation alone is worth the extra cash to me over a portal.

But if PS4/5 streaming is your ONLY desire, the Portal is definitely the right choice, price wise.

*still needs a PS5 hooked up running the game.

Microsoft; Hey, I have this free old app that you can download on your phone or tablet or whatever, connect your controller to it and you can stream your gameplay, so you can play wherever you want.

I want one, but the price is far too much. I loved the Wii U and having something that mimics that would be great. Would be able to play my PS5 while watching shit with my wife instead of just being on the Switch.

It's basically a $200 Wii-U tablet, with the only additional feature being remote play outside the house as long as the PS5 is connected and you're connected to a stable Internet connection.

What I think they should have done instead is make it a portable, digital PS4 with the same remote play capability for PS5.

Get a digital console second hand and you can drop the price to around 300 for the console.

Screen itself is larger, by an extra 2 inches or less but still. Plus you get the dual sense features for those who care about it.
