I wish I knew of more anime with zany casts like this. Where it isn't a big battle for a final cause and more about people who have these kind of local head-bangs with one another with such weirdness wrapped around it.

There's just something about this series that I just never get from any other anime.

then check out rumiko's other work before this urusei yatsura it's pure slapstick comedy with some romcom with the main couple the remake skips most of my fav chapter but it's easier to get in and you could also check out the old version as well

From what I looked up of the manga chapter progression, it probably won't even be this season.

Great episode. Reminds me too why Kodachi is my least favorite character in the show. Even after losing, she just seems to shallowly infatuated with that Ranma encounter. She's a good anti-hero though.

Also, Ryoga getting to the school, lol.

Edit: I guess she's my second least. Happosai definitely is an awkward monkey-facing-right-looking-left character.

Seriously, it's like every time Allegra Clark does the laugh she does it better and better.

Rumiko Takahashi is probably the most celebrated woman mangaka in Japan. Ranma and Inuyasha are both legendary.

Well, this episode makes me feel like Happosai is definitely coming back. Still a question of 'how nerfed' he'll be, but Mikado is a lot worse than I remember him being. Maybe not Happosai bad, but he shows they don't seem to care too too much about watering down sexual advances.

Mikado did everything I expected him to do, which is be his lecherous bad self. Happosai loves boobies and panties. I've no doubt he'll be back in his prime form.

I must say, I'm really enjoying the weekly release schedule. The biggest reason I stopped watching anime was because I got tired of chasing and following periodic releases over many years, and them not respecting my time.

See, I remember so little about Azusa and Mikado. I couldn't even remember why they were anti-heroes from the get-go but once I heard 'Charlotte', it all came rushing back. Man, the character chemistry in Ranma is just so damn good.

I never watch anything weekly myself, but I loved Ranma way back and this gives me such a burst of nostalgia to the point I am so overjoyed watching it. I might actually follow this one till the end with it's weekly releases.

I want to see Mikado and Kuno fight.

speaking of rumiko works i would love a remake of mermaid saga but i would rather they instead work on her now series MAO that would be great it's strange they didn't do it yet even tho there is enough for a multiple season s

I watched the first four seasons of Ranma back in the day, until I saw just how much filler there was. The last two seasons were basically just unscripted filler at that point, so I switched to reading the manga. I can't even remember how many arcs there were past that point.

Akane gives Ranma eyes that she wouldn't give any other man and Ranma thinks she's mooning over Mikado.

And you just want to scream at the dolt for being so clueless.

Fun episode. Cant wait for the next one. Going by the manga, the match will turn out very differently compared to the original anime.

one thing i love is that people are finally being shown the real akane not the bastardization that people have assumed of her for decades

As a guy who was in HS in the 90's when this came to america, it was totally relatable in later years. Hit my 20's and it finally dawned on me that "Hey, I think that girl I secretly liked really was flirting with me"

Another good episode.

My only tiff was them bringing up that Ryoga was Charlotte, and how quickly that was dismissed. I was curious how that was going to be dealt with the moment it happened and it was like "Eh, let's just address it but not at the same time".

this episode further shows why i hate ryoga he KNOWS what he is doing is wrong but he dont give a damn

I'm looking forward to seeing Shampoo's introduction in the next episode.

Im waiting to see the finish of the ice skating battle, how closely it resembles the manga version compared to the OG anime.

Good episode. I do like the additional scenes during the duel. Also, (manga spoilers only) Ranma didnt get the full beatdown like he did in the manga. That part got toned down a little. Fun second half.

I was actually completely blindsided by Shampoo. Once we got to the competition, I was like "OH YEAH. That's what the episode title was about" and I also remember with male ranma, (next episode spoiler) the Kiss of Death means love, not kill.

God, the younger me is just enjoying this too much. This episode had a good bit of everything. Closed out the battle and immediately ran into the next character arc.

I'm unsure about Shampoo's new voice. Better than her old English VA, but I'm not sure if it's as good as the Japanese VA.

Akane showed almost zero character development in the first season. She was mean and spiteful. This AMV sums up her character.

Are we seeing season 2 next week? I got an alert for season 2 with MAL. I hope so. I cannot believe we hit Episode 12 already.

Yeah. Mousse arrived first, then (if I remember correctly) after he returns from his first defeat, Ukyo shows up afterward.

Edit: After looking at it again, the original anime changed the order a little from the manga. In the manga, Ukyo arrives right before Mousse comes back to Japan.

Also sort of expected Shampoo's secret to be revealed this episode. Seems not. I don't remember where everything happens. It's been so long.

From the manga, Mousse debuted in chapter 43, Ukyo arrived in chapter 85 and Mousse comes back in chapter 95.

Its been renewed for a 2nd season!

Expected but still exciting.

If you mean her having a Jusenkyo curse, she doesn't have it at this point; she only gets it after returning to China, as a sort of punishment. Plus, nobody knows about Ranma's fear of cats just yet; if anything, that'll be the start of season two, and will help cement Genma as one of the fucking worst anime fathers ever (that I know of).
